This is a mix of many of my favorite Afro Downtempo tracks, including several of my unreleased edits as well as some classics that I have been playing over the last 2-3 years. 

African music holds a special place in my heart. Whether it be Morocco, Mali, Angola, something inside be resonates with the frequency of rhythms and melodies, and most of all the voices. Without the need to understand what is being said I feel the spirit of so many of these artists in me. 

This mix is a journey through the deserts, jungles, and villages of Africa, featuring remixes and edits of many amazing classic artists such as, Rokia Traoré, Oumou Sangaré, Ali Farka Touré, Fatoumata Diawara, Sonah Jobartah and more. 

Most of popular music in North & South America as well as Europe can have its roots traced back to Africa. The vibrant and diverse cultures of mama Africa have spread around the world influencing cultures in many ways.

Afrikana - J.Pool (Afro Downtempo & Folktronica Mix)

A few months ago in September, the week before my son was born, my good friend Tony Tobias (official videographer of Momentom Collective) came to Tulum. We made the music video to accompany this song produced last year, it's my own take on the classic medicine song "Madre, te siento".

My intention in making a cover of this song (as well as the video) came from pain, frustration and some anger. Feelings that arise when I see what we are doing to our beautiful Mother Earth with pollution and endless unconscious expansion & construction.  Especially in Tulum where I have been based the last few years. I made this version of the song fast and dancy, more suitably played in environments in which the message of the lyrics might not reach.

The English lyrics are "Mother I feel you under my feet, Mother I feel your heartbeat,"
Spanish - "Madre te siento bajo mis pies, te siento al ladito de mi corazon." (Mother I feel you under my feet, I feel you in my heart."
Simple yet powerful.

I have always been passionate about protecting the environment, I worked in reforestation in Canada and have lived in several permaculture communities, and now with the birth of my son, bringing this new being into the world, I feel more passion than ever to raise awareness around this issue. I know that environmentalism is one of the main pillars of Envision festival and that is a huge part of why I am so excited to be a part of this festival this year and to be releasing this in partnership with them to raise money for their NGO "Somos El Cambio" which is responsible for several regenerative projects in Costa Rica

I believe that the state of our (humans) relationship with the earth is a reflection of the state of our relationship with ourselves. We have been going through a very long (thousands of years) learning period, in which we have forgotten where we come from and what our role is on this planet. Because of this, we have been destructive to ourselves, our bodies and minds, and to our environment, living in-harmoniously with natural order. 

Now we are in a beautiful moment. We are in a time of remembering, of connecting to our ancient ancestor's ways, of reconnecting to ourselves and the earth, of waking up and becoming more aware. However, there is still much to learn before we stop walking the harmful path that we are on as a species and begin to live fully in harmony.

This video is meant to be a reminder and a mirror, for those who watch to look and see what we are doing and know that this is a choice. That we have the choice, to continue on this path or to choose to create a new way of living that is regenerative and nourishing for all beings, including the conscious being that is this planet Earth in which we are living.

I love listening to world music! Making edits of these amazing classic songs is my way to give them new life and new opportunity to be played in environments that they may normally not have ever had the chance to be heard. 

This music, Latin, African, Native American folklore and traditional music is so powerful, it really connects to something deep in our human instincts and makes us feel alive. When I play these edits in DJ sets live people always connect and move naturally to the music :)

Marieta - Sierra Maestra (J.Pool Edit) FREE DL

I spent most of summer 2023 on the mystical island of Mykonos in Greece as a resident artist/DJ at the world renowned Noema Restaurant and Scorpios Beach Club. This set I recroded live on one of my last nights on the island after spending the over 2 months there collecting music to curate the vibe of the space. This past summer I had the opportunity to be a resident Artist/DJ in the world famous Scorpios beach club on the mystical island of Myknonos. I stayed more than 2 months on the island and this set was recorded one afternoon on one of my last days. The vibe in the afternoon at Scorpios is impeccable. The vibe is chill, relaxed, crystal clear waters meet a privte beach and the sun sets slowly below the water on the horizon creating a spectacular show of shade of color on the water and rocky landscape. This set was played before moving into the night energy where the music turns up and the headliner DJs come, with the intention to set the vibe right and get people ready to dance the night away. Alma Respira

This is a recording of my ritual live looping set that I played at Before Sunset Beach on the Aegean coast of Turkey this summer.

Before Sunset Beach has an incredible sunset view over the crystal clear waters of the Aegean see, where ancient Greeks & Romans used to live and eventually taken over by the Ottoman Empire. The land is beautiful and rich, they grow lemons and olives in the surrounding mountains and you can find many incredible ancient ruins around the area.

In the set you will here me playing and looping a Spanish style acoustic guitar, a fender electric guitar, and native flute, as well as live vocal textures and melodies.

All of the music is improvised in the moment, as I feel. The beats & bass lines were pre-produced in Ableton live but the arrangement of the loops is improvised as I change and launch them live.

I really love sharing and creating this type of musical experience because I become a pure open channel to divine creativity as I improvise and sometimes  even surprise myself.

This WAS NOT MADE WITH AI. It is completely real HUMAN creativity and expression.

Anope (Ecstatic Mix)

"Heal With You" is a very special song for me. The lyrics of the song are inspired by the beautiful healing process of being in a relationship ~ if you choose for it to be so.

Making and releasing the song was also part of another healing process for me of connecting more with my voice and getting over my fears of singing publicly, stepping over the shadow of self doubt and building confidence. The style of this song is a bit of a different sound for those of you that know my music already, it's a new style that I've been playing with, inspired by artists like RYX. My song "Mama Cacao" is the most similar of my songs to "Heal With You".

As we step toward the new year of 2026, Montaña Andina arrives as a musical prayer for Mother Earth. Inspired by the voice of the Andes, a call rising from the mountains, this track is an offering to Pachamama and the ancient landscapes of South America, reminding us of our deep connection to the land, the cycles of nature, and the wisdom held in the earth beneath our feet.

Featuring traditional Peruvian instruments such as the zampoña and charango, the song weaves together a poem written by Joanna Botvin during her travels in Peru, chants from a traditional despacho ceremony, and the gentle wisdom of a mamita. Blending Andean folk melodies, cumbia rhythms, and organic electronic production, the music flows like wind through mountain valleys and footsteps on sacred ground.

Montaña Andina invites us to listen to Mother Earth, to remember that we are alive, deeply connected, and all children of the Earth, called to care for one another and the planet we share. Montaña Andina

Pulse of the Sun marks the moment where the practice begins to rise.

This track is song number three from a concept album created together with Jonah Kest, designed to flow through the 7 Doors of Yoga, mirroring the energetic progression of a full yoga practice.

Here, the body is warm, the breath is steady, and movement starts to gain momentum. Pulse of the Sun lives at the threshold between grounding and activation, where intention turns into motion. Rhythmic patterns, organic grooves, and spacious textures support a feeling of lift and forward flow, inviting practitioners deeper into presence and embodied awareness.

This is the first single from the album, with the full release arriving later this month.

All vocals and instruments were recorded and performed by me, with no AI involved in the production — created fully by hand, breath, and intention.

Made as a companion for vinyasa, breath-led movement, and conscious flow.

Pulse of the Sun

On the Roof of Imagination is a Sound Healing Journey that I originally created to be performed as a meditation at the end of Ecstatic Dances. This time I performed it as a meditation in itself to celebrate the Winter Solstice, Christmas, and the beginning of a new year for my good friends at Imagination Hostel in Arambol, Goa, India.

The ambiences you hear during the journey are a collection of recordings that I've gathered over the last 2 years while traveling.  Each holds the energy of a powerful place or moment.  You can hear birds at sunrise on a lake in the mountains of Canada, Argan seeds in my hands in the south of Morocco, gentle waves under the full moon from the Indian Ocean in Kerela and more.  You can also hear clips of the Sasak villagers of Lombok, Indonesia, singing and laughing, as well as parts of the traditional sunset ceremony at the Uluwatu temple in Bali.  I've blended together all of these elements to create an ambience that captures and emanates a part of what I have experienced on my journey.

Everything about this performance is completely improvised... I take in the energy of the moment and my surroundings and channel it directly into the music.

The native flute I play in the beginning and the end was handmade by friend @masterskayfleit (you can find him and his epic flutes on Instagram!)

On the Roof of Imagination: A Live Improvised Sound Journey

This is an edit of a song I heard for the first time while traveling in Morocco recently, when I close my eyes I can envision the massive bay in which I lived where the sand dunes reached out to the touch of the ocean, where the sunset always filled the sky with rich colours of deep orange to a dreamlike rose, and the stars always shone bright in the night stretching to infinity. "Je Pense A Toi" means "I'm thinking of you" in French, when I hear this song I think of this place and mystical energy the the land there holds, it transports me back to the ancient sacred lands of Africa.

The soundscape in the beginning of this edit was created by putting together recording that I made while in Morocco, the ambience of wind at sunrise near the ocean and the sound of light footsteps on dry argan seeds.

"Mi Alma" is the result of a late night session in the studio on my last day of the Momentom Collective Artist Residency in Maderas, Nicaragua. This song is very deeply connected to my soul, in the late hours in the studio I set my ego aside and let myself become vulnerable to the microphone, singing and playing straight from the heart. Mi Alma

"Unlocking the Doors of Infinity" is a mix series that I've been inspired to create for gentle yoga flows. I started practicing yoga more than 7 years ago and have become very intimate with my practice in these recent months. I love having music playing to help guide my journey inwards throughout the practice, so I've decided to release a new mix every full moon feature my favourite chill downtempo, ambient, and medicine music! Unlocking The Doors of Infinty 001: Music for Yoga Flows

Welcome to the second Volume of "Unlocking the Doors of Infinity", a series of sets I am creating to help you go deep into your yoga and meditation practice! In this volume I invited my beautiful sister Hannah Cunha share some words to help guide you into your practice and into infinity. Hannah is an amazing human, yogi, and yoga instructor, famous for her wise words in her yin classes. Here are the words that she had to share for us in this episode:

"Notice the breath

Allow the breath to awaken what is often a dormant sense of curiosity we have when it comes to the body

The body now becomes our direct portal to presence

As the breath continues to move the body, what we do matters less than what we notice

Allow breath and curiosity to keep you bound to what can’t be seen

Layer by layer, breath by breath, we’re guided in, in the form of a slow unravel

Embodied movement asks the question: how much of myself is here right now?

Breathe fully into the rich, complex, dynamics of that answer

As you settle into stillness, let it remind you of who you are when the doing stops

Welcome to the third edition of Unlocking the Doors of Infinity, a musical journey created for practicing yoga, breath work, or anything else that this journey inspires in you.

I met Rikke this past January in San Marcos La Laguna, Lago Atitalan, Guatemala. We instantly connected with our passion for yoga, philosophy and science!

In this edition, Rikke shares some beautiful words to guide you into your practice and to return home in the end. She has blessed us with a glimpse into her knowledge and understanding of the quantum field as well as her profound connection to the body and mother earth.

"Presence yourself to yourself.

Presence yourself to the movement of your breath, to the drum of your heartbeat.

Presence yourself to the grounding solidity of your bones as they echo the anchoring resonance of the earth.

Presence yourself to the fluidity and the deep sea intelligence of your organs.

Presence yourself to the electricity of your  nervous system and subatomic particles that vibrate as you.

There is aliveness here.

There is a pulse of creation.

Pour yourself into yourself, pour yourself into this pulse, into the currents that usher their way through the matrix you experience as “you”

Into the depths of you, into the deepest chamber of you, into the ground of your being.

Into the stillness, into the silence.

Here is a gateway, a portal from your being into your becoming.

There is a longing here, a longing for life to birth itself out of itself.

Give yourself to this desire.

This body knows it birthed itself, it made itself, it moves, it has always know how to move.

Out of a field of potentiality you vibrate into form; nothingness spiraling into everything-ness, pulsing between the opposites of expansion and contraction.

Waves of expression in an ocean of awareness and energy.

You are reality rediscovering itself
your body is the mystery awakening to itself 
you are emptiness, dancing

Give yourself to the earth.

Offer the whole weight of yourself to the longing pull of gravity.

To let yourself be held, to resource yourself in the holding field of the earth, in the felt sense that you are not falling through space, but that you are deeply held.

Held within the web of living-ness that weaves you into itself.

Rest here.

Let your back body melt like wet clay to the fertile soil underneath you.

Let your front body dissolve open into infinite sky.

You are the channel between the two.

You are the earth sky vessel.

You are infinity vibrating as form.

Give yourself to this mystery."

Dia de Los Muertos is a day to celebrate those who have past, to remember them and keep their spirits alive, and to give thanks for everything they did for us while they were here in this realm.

To celebrate this year's Dia De Los Muertos here in Mexico I had the pleasure of playing this set for a beautiful private event in the jungle of Tulum. 
.
This is an extended 3 hour set featuring many of my favorite Latin and World Downtempo music to celebrate this amazing day of gratitude.

Ritmos De Los Muertos (Live DJ Set, Tulum MEX)

Janax Pacha and I have come together with our creative artistic abilities to create this unique and powerfully vibrational experience. Combining the organic and shamanic Live Looping style of Janax Pacha with a refined sonic aesthetic, we are exploring new dimensions of possibilities live sets. This set is completely live and improvised in the moment, feeding off the energy of our surrounding and audience... it is a completely new experience every time.

We performed this set recently together at the beautiful Tree House Tulum, where the jungle meets the ocean under the moon and stars. This music is a pure reflection of our essence as humans and artists, both individually and together. We are mirrors of each other and of you.
