Jaap Ligthart at Van Papier Festival - 17 September 2022

In my yoga class (yes i do yoga) I heard the track Eastern Sun and absolutely loved it. After the class i asked the teacher (also happens to be his wife) for the artist and song title and decided to make a remix of it to play in my sets.

Here's the remix, i hope you like it.

Here’s what happened between 8 and 11 am on a Sunday. I played a little faster and harder than usual but it was really fun to do… Rolling progressive, groovy tech house, emotional tear jerkers, some techno and (more than a) couple of classics, it’s all in there :-)

I love doing warmup sets, start when the floor is still empty, seeing the people come in and slowly and steady building an atmosphere. Keeping enough room for the headline DJ, trying to warm up the crowd but not overheat them is a really interesting task. Not the most thankful task usually because you don't play 'hands in the air' peaktime bangers but if you do it right the promoter and headline DJ see that. 10 Years ago I started getting booked by (late) Jerry van Schie to do the warmups at his events, it was a real honour to get noticed by him because he was a veteran in the scene. He's not around anymore to thank him unfortunately but I owe him big time for these opportunities. I found a recording from that time I opened for Pole Folder in Amsterdam...
