Solace Unchained - Luster of Their Heart

Really something that should be added to the description!

For the structure of this song, I did something very deliberate. My goal wasn't just about singing a "new song," because that can just be "a new cage of our choosing." It was about actually "breaking the way we even sing to our worth."
​I grew up with the rigid, predictable flow of hymnals, and I felt that structure needed to be "shattered by the newly formed choir." So the disjointed flow is intentional; it's meant to feel like the chaotic process of "reshaping our entire structure." It's my way of saying that the sound of chains breaking is not a neat and tidy melody!

When I showed the finished version to my wife, so she could listen to it for the first time, she commented on the chaotic flow it had. She said it worked really well, but that it was a bit disjointing while she was going through it. My response was that the normal progression I discovered hymnals using was something that felt like it needed to be shattered by the newly formed choir! That I broke the repetition as a statement that the repetition of the Faithbound child also needed to be reclaimed.

That it wasn't just about singing a new song (a new cage of our choosing), but about actually breaking the way we even sing to our worth! It's my way of saying, "This journey isn't just about escaping the cage, it's about how we reshape our entire structure. Not being the priests echoing the voice of the "Fold" to ourselves."

So, yeah, it wasn't the "approved" method, but that's one of the most deliberate statements woven into the message... I tried 🤣

The River Lethe:
In Greek mythology, Lethe was one of the rivers of the underworld of Hades. In Classical Greek, the word lethe literally means "forgetting", "forgetfulness". The river is also known as the "river of unmindfulness".

I challenged my thoughts,
To prove what they... claimed.

Clinging to faith like addiction was God.
Filling each breath, with the drink I forgot...

Plotting my path.
To the river Lethe.
As every sip, fed depression's...

Belief in deceit, that addictions enough!
I never could sing, while refusing to breathe!

Like copy and paste, beneath a new priest!
Kneeling to worship and pouring a... drink!

Shadows whispered,
"You're welcome back home.

Now we'll never let go."

Each lyric they wrote, echoed notes from the fold!
The voice in my head, that was never my own!

You will see your escape!
Pour the drink on the grave!
Seize from its grasp, all the years it would waste!

They say I'm confused.
They don't know how I fight.
My change only came, through admitting they're right!

Addiction awakes, in its cage of abuse!
It crawls to the church as it's choking on truth!

Delusions subside! Bracing for death...
Begging I'd drink, from their river Lethe!

Addiction suppressed, by why I won't choose.
The river they blessed. Their drink I refused!

Seize the role of your priest!
You can't learn to sing to your worth,
While refusing to breathe!

Reforming our choir!

Each note we proclaim, warships our holy ghosts!

Savor the drink, from the cup they can't hold!
