After the epic "The Day of the Doctor" gave us a new theme over the end credits, and one soul piercing shot of Peter Capaldi's eyes, the next thing for me to do was remix it, of course!

This is Version 2, with a pitch-change to create a darker sound, perhaps more suited to Capaldi's Doctor

I wrote this piece after watching the BBC's documentary about the Silk Road. This features vocals by Tetem and Dumindu Dassanay on the Indian flute.

Doctor Who Classic Mix (Opening Theme)

This is a rebuild of the 1970 Doctor Who titles theme, which was used throughout all of Jon Pertwee's run and most of Tom Baker's.

Special thanks to fellow Soundcloud user Radiophonic Workshop Fan for providing me with the Derbyshire samples (minus the spangles and various hisses, which were made by Danny Stewart).

Doctor Who "Opening Title Theme" (1970) Reconstruction

I was aiming for a more dreamy sounding version of the "diamond logo" opening theme, to play up on the more epherial and psychidelic elements at play in the titles sequence.

Once again, this was made entirely in GarageBand, minus samples from the original Derbyshire theme (provided to me by Simon Bowser, or "Radiophonic Workshop Fan" on here.)

I have to give special thanks to my roommate, who suggested having the arpeggiated spangles transition into the middle-eight. That's what really makes the piece work, in my opinion.

Mist and Dreams - Atmospheric "Doctor Who Opening Title Theme" (1974) cover

This is a recreation of the Doctor Who Opening Titles Theme, made by Peter Howell for John Nathan-Turner's first (and Tom Baker's last) season on the show. It was used all the way until Colin Baker's second (and last) season, where it was replaced with the "Trial of a Timelord" theme by Dominic Glynn.

The bassline and vocoder parts were made using the Arturia CS-80v, and the main melody like was made using the Arturia ARP2600v. All the sound effects used, like the "sting" at the beginning, were sampled from the original and given to me by Simon Bowser.

Special thanks to Danny Stewart, for explaining the basics of recreating the bassline sound on his forums. They were a great help!

Originally done for a great Doctor Who fan opening sequence done by the incomparable Billy Hanshaw (motionworks_tv), it's high time this got released as full version. Thanks to (therealgeekmin) for asking + thus reminding me. :)
