Deep House

It was great to be asked for a longer mix by the Flow Music team. When I started DJing many years ago I would often pay 5, 6 or even 7 hour sets regularly at clubs like Chasers, Chevron and even special extended sets at Onelove. My live stream is always 3 to 4 hours but I play a lot of classics and I didn’t want to look too far back for most of this mix as I love new music and it is a great chance to explore a longer set with mostly fresh sounds. I am not a DJ who is going to play a huge long set of underground music so it was important that the mix reflects my vibe, which is primarily house music, with a touch of disco and a slice of underground more tech house stuff. Hence I lead off with what I would consider my house music style, being big vocals, jacking beats, lots of piano’s. A few jams from my label Vicious in the first hour, before I slowly head into disco territory. I often play this slower disco and almost funk re-edits on my webcast shows, not to mention at Sky Disco (a Melbourne club that started last summer) and at the Melbourne sessions of Glitterbox  in 2018 and  2019. I wanted to at least touch on that sound here in this mix, so it gets a bit slower and I play some things from some of my favourite disco and edit producers including Dimitri From Paris, Hotmood, Crazy P and JARC. It gains pace again as I head towards the last hour where I lift it into some of the deeper driving tech house and progressive house stuff that I like, but again, not so many instrumentals and still a lot of vocal things. I love supporting Australian producers and there are something like 19 tracks out of roughly 60 from Australian producers in there, so it’s almost one third home grown tunes and I feel it represents the strength of what is coming out of Australia. Hailing from Sydney and the Hinterlands in Australia respectively, both producers bring their own flavour to the original On the back of a Number 1 overall release on Beatport and 6 top ten single in the past 12 months, Tristan has already captured the hearts of a lot of listeners with his smooth and spacial production and doesn’t hold back with momentum on his remix.

TAYA on the other hand whose discography is already quite extensive with releases and support from some of the biggest artists in the world, showcases why he is one of the more in demand producers in country with a classy remix that really encapsulate his underground roots.'

After the best part of 10 years learning, becoming, and now sculpting Australia’s House & Techno scene, Tom Evans and Jacob Malmo decided to pool their creative talents and energies together for something greater. Enter: The Journey. 

Their debut single ‘Principium’ on their own imprint UGENIUS Music, as well as the Jamie Stevens Remix was well received globally. In Australia it reached number 9 in the ARIA Club Chart stayed in the top 50 for 10 weeks, an outstanding achievement for a techno record. 

Towards the end of 2016, The Journey was asked to remix the re-release of an iconic Australian anthem in ‘Yothu Yindi - Treaty’. Treaty also reached number 9 on the ARIA Club Chart.

Since then The Journey have had singles released on Einmusik’s label EIN2 and well known Australian underground label “Open Records”, as will of a string of remixes for artists such as Benson, Made In Paris, Child & Doppel and Romanian producer Breky. These have received massive local and international support and on the back of this have been regularly touring nationally.

The  Journey are a go to warm up act for any international and are also regulars on the Australian festival circuit performing at the likes of Pitch Music & Arts Festival, Subsonic, Babylon, Picnik Electronik amongst an array of international and local stars.

This year their new single Cooee was released on UGENIUS Music and is accompanied by 2 huge remixes from Re.You and Kaiser Souzai also gaining great support across the globe. 

Tom and Jacob will also be heading to Europe to tap into the international market.

But more than any of this, while most get a quick reputation for being party ‘starters’, these two gentlemen have an unparalleled ability to be the ‘last’ men standing in any venue … so go on, buy ‘em a drink.
