Amidst the chaos of war, my father met Monique, a beautiful French girl in the picturesque village in Alsace-Lorraine. 

He had already seen the horrors of war on the beaches of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. After months of battle, he felt as if the music had left and his heart had hardened. 

But then he met Monique. And he said of her, "With a word, with a gesture, with a smile and a kiss, Monique had touched my heart and reconstructed my soul."

I composed "Joe's Theme" on the evening my father died as a tribute to his life and his service to our nation.

I coupled this theme with "Victory of the Third Army" as an homage to him, his buddies, and all the men of General George Patton's triumphant Third Army.
