England For Me

Ebernoe Horn Fair in West Sussex is held every year on 25 July, the Feast Day of St James, and was originally an ancient animal fair. A cricket match, between Ebernoe and another village side, is held as part of the Fair, this going back to at least 1864. A sheep is traditionally roasted, with the horns being awarded to the winning side batsman with the highest score. The 2024 match was between Ebernoe and Madehurst. Although it was a wet day, with unscheduled breaks, toughness and good humour shone through in conditions that would have crumbled less rugged non-Sussex sides into abandoning the match.

The song celebrates the resilience and humour of this year’s Ebernoe Horn Fair. Although the song is all rights copyrighted, the embedded images and videos are from Wikimedia Commons.

Bold Reynolds

Written 1992 during trip to Bahamas with Broadwood Morris. Recorded shortly after on four track cassette machine at home. A bit of a lounge lizard version😀

Not sure when I wrote this. At least 20 years ago as Kings and Barnes was taken over by Hall and Woodhouse in 2000. I can'.t remember who is playing besides myself. Mostly software instruments I think. Vocals by me and maybe Paula.

Broadwood Morris Men Song

This is another Charles Causley poem with music by Dick Richardson that I heard probably late 60’s in Redhill folk club. I have played it as best I can remember from Dick"s playing 50 years ago. I have probably changed the melody somewhat as I did with Hawthorn White. Mel Stevens on Clarinet this time.
