Hey everybody, this is Ryan from Beacon Bloom and welcome to episode number four of Beacon Bloom Radio.

This is a special edition - this is a Beacon Bloom showcase mix I performed at Burning Man 2022, on Thursday night at Crossroads Camp on Esplanade.

This was the only DJ set I had at Burning Man and, as happens at Burning Man, had a lot of technical issues which nearly made playing the set impossible.  These issues delayed the set, and so, the people that had gathered to listen had mostly melted off into the evening by the time i finally managed to play.

One person was there however, and listened through the whole set, and that was Pete from ETP Agency.  He spoke to me after the set, and that conversation led to Beacon Bloom's first USA tour with Slow Magic, in October of 2023.  And so, I was in the end grateful for the technical problems - without them, Pete wouldn’t have been outside our camp, and wouldn’t have heard the set - some classic playa magic!!  

Now this set is a bit different, as I would usually play a large variety of other artists in a in a DJ set, but had been encouraged by our bandmate Joss to play lots of Beacon Bloom.

 And so, here is our Burning Man 2022 showcase set - with lots of Beacon Bloom alongside music from our friends: Maz, AZON, and a few genre favourites including, Tourist, Amtrac and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

The music shared through the label embodies the spirit of WhoMadeWho, a trio who have strived to maintain the heart and soul of their musical expression, from their early forays into the world of Indie, to their more recent electronic exploits.

With the first release they have collaborated with a British artist to facilitate his debut release. Known by the artist name Everything Is Art, the London-based Manchester-born creative draws from a deep well of musical touch points. From Aphex Twin and Mike Oldfield to trance and Balearic Beats, Everything Is Art channels the soulful and spiritual side of electronic music into his productions. Together they have produced a spellbinding cut - ‘All The Love’. A highlight in WhoMadeWho’s recent sets, the track works off a sturdy percussive base with stirring vocals that go straight to the heart of your emotional centre. Shrouded in layers of warm synth, the energy builds slowly, guiding us into a rousing breakdown, punctuated by solemn piano keys and reverberating vocals. This takes us into the second half, where the beautifully composed track continues to immerse us in its breathtaking atmosphere…

Striking the perfect balance of uplifting, heartfelt vocals and emotive arrangement, with a hint of melancholy, ‘All The Love’ epitomises the beautifully harmonious synergy between WhoMadeWho and Everything Is Art.

His first release since his return home after several years living in Berlin, Harry is a guitarist and songwriter at his core who has evolved into a producer and live electronic act over the past decade. This body of work is a reflection of that growth, incorporating sounds of downtempo, electronic and organic house alongside live vocals and guitar.

A blend of diverse influences and experiences, the album captures the multifaceted nature of his journey as an artist. With Movement, Harry creates a sonic space that merges his roots with his evolution, showcasing the many influences that have shaped his sound.

I started this project to create a dance floor-friendly record that would serve as a foundation for my current music production and DJ style. The five-track EP tells the story of setting out a place to discover, going there, making a connection, and saying farewell with a bittersweet but warm feeling. Collaborating with different artists such as Jeremy Jones and The Wyze elevated the story I envisioned to a higher level.
