Carlow, "Heart Breaks Down" is the second instalment in a captivating series of tracks that O'Flaherty has been working on.

While "Heart Breaks Down" promises to leave a lasting impact, Jack O'Flaherty has even more in store for his fans. With other tracks already in the release pipeline, teasing:

KITSILANO, WILL RELEASE INDEPENDENTLY ON JULY 26TH, 2023

'Kitsilano' is an Indie-rock track that reflects on lost love. The song contemplates the exit strategy, when to cut and run 'before it gets too late'.

Multi-instrumentalist Jack O'Flaherty plays guitar, bass and keys on this track along with other programmed elements. Additional guitar work is supplied by Eoin COogan, recurring collaborator of Jack's.

'Kitsilano' is the third of four songs I'm releasing this summer, It's the closest to my alternative rock roots of the four, I suppose it's a 'band' sounding track and it's also where I'm hoping to move closer to in the next stage of my career. I've really enjoyed gigging this one with drums and guitar support, the reaction at gigs has been amazing. I'm looking forward to bringing the show to more people in the Autumn'.

The Mercadonnas seek to distinguish themselves with their unique blend of abrasive rock and insightful lyrics. "Céad Míle Fáilte," which translates to "A Hundred Thousand Welcomes," is a powerful introduction to the band’s sound—a mix of reverb-soaked guitars, driving basslines, and cavernous drums, all underscored by O’Flaherty’s raw, emotive vocals.

"I wrote this song wondering about who we are and how that's changing," says O’Flaherty. "Historically, Irish people know what it is to be a refugee, a migrant. The Irish diaspora is proof of that. Maybe that's why we pride ourselves so much on the Irish welcome, 'céad míle fáilte' and all that—we give visitors here the welcome that we wish our grandfathers, uncles, grannies had when they had to go abroad. I hope that never changes."

"Céad Míle Fáilte" is the first of several singles The Mercadonnas plan to release independently over the coming months.The band’s sound, described as "abrasive music for abrasive times," is a reflection of their sharp social insight, signature humor, and undeniable pop hooks.
