Second track for my first upcoming album! Doshaburi (土砂降り) meaning downpour in Japanese. This track tells the story of a calm night with a light trickle of rainfall, followed by a downpour of torrential rain, until finally the storm passes.

A small collection of miniature fantasies on some of my favorite tunes, performed by Dr. Jihye Chang. 

Each adapted tune is in some shape or form musically significant to my early life, the first of which is "Old Kentucky Home", a melody I scatter around the first tune. With this first tune, I enjoyed extracting parts of the melody to serve as my subject, and then slowly emerging out of it into what I consider "chordal nonsense". 

The second tune is a through-composed lullaby for my now deceased cat, Callie. I consider myself a cat person and a composer and it would be very non-cat-person-like to not write a piece for your cat...or well, dead cat. With this particular melody, I just wanted to stretch it out and vary it until I see fit to force a conclusion. That's all.

And the third and final tune is a bit of a hybrid, composed out of the signature standard "St. Thomas" with added harmonies that might be found in a Chance the Rapper song (Sunday Candy, hence Saint Thomas on Sunday). These were both elements I liked as a younger lad, and that I wanted to combine without being too gauche. I don't know, I hope it worked?
