Skriðdreki (Crawling Dragon) is the second track from 8 by Laxá & Heima Kvartett — an Icelandic post-rock ensemble known for fusing cinematic strings, dub reggae basslines, and atmospheric guitars.

Dedicated to bassist Bjarne Guðjohnsen, Skriðdreki opens with a driving bass line crawling beneath layers of fuzzed guitar and rhythmic drums. As the density lifts, Mike Taylor’s church organ and the Heima Kvartett’s strings rise through the haze, giving the piece a sense of both menace and release. The pacing shifts between weight and clarity — almost symphonic — capturing the feel of a classical structure within a modern post-rock frame.

“Till I’m Drunk & Confused” tells the story of someone trapped in a loop of regret — drinking to forget, but only finding the truth they’ve been avoiding. It’s a story about the moment when denial gives way to clarity, and the only person left to face is yourself. The lyrics walk that tightrope between self-awareness and self-destruction: “I’ll drink booze till I’m well past confused / It’s killing me that there’s just no use / You’re the one thing I had to lose to learn the truth about me.” The music stays bright and pulsing, almost defiant — an ironic counterpoint to the lyrics’ honesty. It’s heartbreak disguised as motion, confession wrapped in rhythm, self-reflection faces reality. Underneath the shine lies regret, loneliness, and hard-won self-awareness.

At its core, “Till I’m Drunk & Confused (So Lost Without You)” is a reflection on heartbreak, regret, and self-realization. The lyrics tell the story of someone who lost a relationship because of alcohol — and now uses that same alcohol to fill the silence.
