This collection of songs were composed during the initial Guess Ready Review artist residency August 2013, on acoustic guitar and piano in what is known as Ober's House or Big House. The recording setup was basic and sacrificed sound quality for ambiance. These are first drafts, while some of these compositions were further refined and used in a soundtrack for the 2014 documentary Beyond The Divide. There is an immediacy and intimacy in these demo recordings that will always take me back to the way the light curled in between the tree branches and in through the windows into that big, musty room of old books, maps and pictures; the smell of dirt and tobacco and the echos of old stories and songs filling the room.
