its Wednesday evening, im sitting alone getting tipsy just by listening to jhl from MacBook Pro 14’ 2023 Apple M2 Pro speakers.
this is what i call A Sweet Melancholy.

they say you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness and it has to be true because i’ve been struggling with taking my ears of “concertina” - a blissful, dreamful, beautiful, meaningful, peaceful, cheerful, eventful marathon of ballads about all the tastes of Longing.

you see, usually, A Song is an empty shell to fill with one's soul. the fundament of this album is a collection of The-Ultimate-Poppiest-Pop-Songs that have been heard and (over)used so many times they are not (and they can’t be [and maybe they should not be]) shells anymore - they became sonic monuments appropriated by Those Who Own.
[don’t get me wrong - part of the pop’s charm is the fact that it is not emotionally owned by you]
jhl builds their own story on this fucked up fundament and it’s a story so intimate and so earnest that listening through these covers feels like reading an autobiography or screaming the deepest of your lungs out into the sky. it feels deeply Real. it feels cathartic.

the sparkling piled up granuling granular granules of vibrant sound design, the scintillating symphonies, the tight punchy crunchy crispy drums, the biosphere of OSCs, the tender angelic cherubic smooth vocals, The Infatuations.

as you grow old, you change! your music taste changes, your eyesight gets worse, your back starts aching and memories collected through the years change too! jhl covers transcend the originals. they give them a new meaning. they let you merge with civilizational memories embedded in them.

i say that because i really want 'Trik 2​→​3'** to be a Story, and stories are the only certain thing we REALLY have. I'm not even being sentimental here. This is Science, Man.
