Well, it's sure been a while, huh? I haven't checked on this account in a bit, so I hope the fandom's current brainrot hasn't infected the UTSC community. d̶e̶l̶t̶a̶r̶u̶n̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶m̶o̶r̶r̶o̶w̶

On a personal note, INTERSTELLAR ASCENSION V2 and The Upper Hand came out at just the right time for me. Since the New Year, I've hit that uncomfy zone in the "art learning curve" where my perceived technical skill is lower than my actual technical skill... Combined with school sapping my free time, and I've made very little music I'm satisfied with.

I've been wanting to make a remix that doesn't take months to work on only for me to leave it incomplete, and this song dropping was just the motivation I needed :) Yeah, there's a few spots I could have touched up, but I wanted to get *something* out, you know?

The inclusion of Shadrow's "Dr. Gaster" ended up being a bit of a happy accident. I'd forgotten that Sockswald had been associated with that song since 2023 (I literally watched the animatic WITH THE SONG in it at the time and still forgot when I started working on this cover), so I thought I was being a clever bastard when I sampled it. Cue my surprise when I play the fangame and see the flavour text referencing it...

The scarce "Touch-Tone Telephone" samples are kind of a leftover from my first cover that I just couldn't bring myself to part with (it's a good song). I think I worked them in quite well in this remaster; they go along with Shadrow's song really nicely.

I initially integrated more elements of "Stronger Than You" (as well as DJSmell's Sans cover) into the song, and while it sounded awesome, it ended up making the track busier than it already is.

(Other notable samples and references include "Dreamscape" by 009 Sound System, "Backbone" by Sean "Lone" Evans, "Menu" from Star Fox SNES, and miscellaneous UNDERTALE leitmotifs.)

I didn't like the last version I did - so here's a v2!
I wanted to go with the idea that this is a rematch later in the game, after The Knight's identity has been revealed. That's why it sounds like this. Slower, less hectic, but still scary and dread inducing. They aren't holding back, but the Fun Gang is strong enough to take it, yknow? Anyway, sorry about taking the other one down. It's unlisted, I can add the link to this description if people want that. I just wanted to really do this track justice instead of rushing to make something in celebration of the new chapters coming out.

I think The Knight is definitely December Holiday. Or Carol, but that seems very slightly less likely and less cool,  unless there's some reason for me to not dislike Carol later. But she doesn't like Susie. And Susie's awesome. So if Carol's also the world ending knight, she's gonna be hard to redeem...
