Wait No More

On the return from Berlin, we found ourselves right back where we started, in Brisbane. It was as though we had never left. But Emma's piano is now in tune, and thanks to my time in Pluntic studios, I have started to master the Protools/Ableton combo. This song took 2 hours write and record start to finish.

Reams of Paper


There was a buzz in the air, a crowd started gathering out of nowhere
Something quite strange was floating in the sea, like nothing you've ever seen
The crew that put it together said it would float in any kind of weather
They called it a raft and we all just laughed

Mariners of old, told of only in stones and bones
No tale so bold, as when you don't know if you're going home

It was so long ago, that we don't really know
But rumours of our heroes still drift upon the sea, like full moon light or gasoline
Some say they left from Antikythera or the Pelleponees 
But one thing is quite certain they braved the dangerous seas

They built it upside down, with the deck on the ground
Long lashings of kalami cane, dried over winter and protected from the rain
All tied up with sisal rope that bound together an unbelievable hope 
That these first ship mates would make it across the straits.

Two sets of fathers and sons, old men wise and boys brown from the sun
A rosey lady, a drummer and four local men, one fortunately knew the lay of the land
Gathering from lands afar, tasting wine at local bars
The crew assembled one by one and had their last bit of fun.


Five paddlemen per side, it would hardly be an easy ride
Sixty five nautical miles or 400,000 feet and in the distance Crete!
Well the crew survived, but no one greeted them as the arrived
No fanfare, no crowds, no fireworks burst, that's the problem when you arrive first!

No boat is so old, No crew so gold, No tale is so bold 
As when you don't know if you're going home

Musician, performer Jack Tinapple is a lecturer in contemporary music and plays in and co-ordinates and regularly tours two original bands: The NEO and Jigsaw Collective. He also manages Powerfunk recording label. Jack completed a Bachelor of Music in classical vocals and flute performance. Jack also has a keen interest and previous practice in Theatre and Film.
