Pieces of glass in my eye when I wake up 
A triumphant chorus of rust 
I look to the sirens and the gunshots in a state of confusion 
And I bark

Finding a way to make me more conscious 
And tripping over wires on the Hudson 
Making my mark on 3 square inches 
The situation is dire and yet

Brittle are my teeth when the sun rises in the morning

Moonlight

"My goal is to speak to others through my music — one person in a small room, thousands in a packed stadium, or anything in between.” Bandleader, session musician, composer, sideman, producer, performer — no matter which musical role he takes on, 22-year-old guitarist Jack Waugh always carries this personal mission statement with him. From performing at venues and events such as the 9:30 Club, the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, DROM, Le chat Noir, Pianos, and Rockwood Music Hall, to touring the East Coast (with the Bianca Muniz Band), Waugh continues to advance his rising career while achieving his musical goals. He graduated with a BFA degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in December 2017. 

Through his unique compositions and spontaneous improvisations, Waugh strives to balance exploration of uncharted sonic territory with honest, uncompromised emotion. He believes that studying an array of genres is key to achieving this. Jazz, Rock, Americana, Classical, Bluegrass, Blues, and Pop can all be heard in his individual and ever changing auditory landscape. For Waugh, his guitar is the bridge that connects and transports emotion to the audience; “I play because, through music, we are able to transcend societal barriers and take listeners, as well as our ourselves, to a place of unity and infinite consciousness.”
