Born as a vegabond roughing it in the underground punk scene, after tours and a few albums with his band he graduated to the fine solo act of Bluegrass and Lyrical Melodys similar to The Beatles and John Prine. 

Although the actual talent of picking and strumming proved to be a skill only mastered after decades of practice, he turned to relaying on his lyrical and foot stomping song writing skills of a more personal style.
