This is a piece of music written by Caude Debussy called Clair de Lune. 

Debussy said that you should imagine the piano without keys, so that the sound flows freely. So that is what I have tried to do.

A big thanks to James Rhodes who helped me a lot on this piece of music.

This piece is the first in the Movement. I hope to bring you the rest when I've learned them, but not sure how long this will take!

I really like this piece, because you can express your emotions very clearly.

Gnossiennes

I have recorded this as a present for James Rhodes because his new live album has been released today. i really hope you enjoy this new piece, as it took me 3-4 weeks to learn.  

Edvard Grieg was born in Bergen, Norway on June 15, 1843. For most of Edvard's life Norway struggled to be its own nation separate from unions with other countries. It was his music that helped give Norway its own identity. For his contribution, he came to be regarded as a hero to the people of Norway. Many of his works include Norwegian folksongs and paint a musical picture of the landscape of the beautiful countryside.

Edvard's first music lessons were with his mother. He began writing music at the age of nine. Encouraged by a famous Norwegian violinist, Edvard enrolled in Leipzig Conservatory at the age of fifteen. He graduated four years later as a talented pianist and composer.

For a number of years Grieg and his wife lived in Copenhagen, Denmark and toured Europe performing his music. Then in 1885 they returned to his beloved Norway to build a cabin in a villa called Troldhaugen which means "Hill of the Mountain Men". From this cabin that overlooked the mountains and a ford, Grieg wrote some of his greatest compositions.

Edvard Grieg died on September 4, 1907 in his hometown of Bergen, Norway. He is best known for his Piano Concerto in A Minor and his music for Henrik Ibsen's stage play Peer Gynt which includes two of his best known works: Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King.

My name is Jacob Knowles, I am thirteen and I live in Derbyshire. I've been playing The piano for 7 months now, and I am loving every minute of it, it is amazing. My inspiration is James Rhodes I think he is fantastic, If you have any time free please watch his programme on Sky Arts: James Rhodes Piano Man. He will blow your mind.
There is something about the piano that is trully amazing and heart breaking. It has sutch depth and emotion. Some pieces are happy and fast, some are slow and sad. I hope to bring out about 1 piece out every week, but if not it will be because I was practicing to try and get it perfect. 
When I am older I want to be a concert pianist, this includes albums, concerts and lots of practice.I am mainly focusing on the lullabies or heart breakers of the piano. like Clair de Lune, Gnossiennes and Rachmaninoff. My favourite composers are Bach, Bethoven , Mozart , Chopin, Tchaikovsky , Rachmaninoff , Debussy , Busoni , Lizt , Ravel and Satie.
