Hybrid Theory – The Dark

Four 40 Records honcho Hybrid Theory continues his experiments in bass heavy house, combining a range of influences to bring forth exciting and original productions almost daily. The Dark is no exception – a melting pot of different Underground music characteristics brought together to offer a moody yet groovy beat, strikingly reminiscent of the bassline house tracks of yesteryear. Hybrid has a knack for utilizing vocal snippets to emphasize different sections in his tracks with ease, a signature technique that never fails to impress. The workrate from this fast-rising producer has to be admired, with a hefty selection of tracks this summer that has earnt him plays on 1Xtra, from Eton Messy and in dances up and down these last few months!

Dancefloor heroes Oliver follow up their finely tuned Mechanical EP with a surprising new remix collection that casts their already-diverse originals in a stunning new light. Kicking off with a stomping, fan favorite mix of "Night Is On My Mind" by festival king Dillon Francis, Mechanical Remixes kicks into even higher gear with Nom De Strip's big room take on "Control," before pulling a moody left turn with Tchami's housey (dare we say jazzy!) version of "MYB," and closing out strong with a high-NRG remix of "Mechanical" by new young producer Values. Machine music never sounded so good!
