Pumped Up Kicks (Foster The People Cover)

I started making the drums for this track in November 2012, I used my MIDI keyboard and counted while playing the keys, then rearranged the beats so they were all in time. At that point I couldn't sing as high as I needed to in the chorus, and I could barely play guitar so I abandoned it. I found it while looking through some old files about 3 months ago and wondered what it would sound like with guitar.. then I just kept going. This song is special to me, Ocean Eyes was one of if not the first album I bought with my own money and although this genre isn't what I usually play or even listen to so much any more (and I definitely don't usually use these kinds of synths ;) ) that album will always be a favorite of mine. I really hope you enjoy it.

ETA: There is a minor issue with the volume in the chorus, for some reason on my sound system it sounds equal but I've tried it from other devices and it's too loud compared to the rest of the song. If My Heart Was A House (Owl City Cover)

Full instrumental and vocal cover of Owl City's most famous song, Fireflies. Ocean Eyes was the first album I bought (!!), always loved this song but when it first came out I didn't produce music at all, always kind of wanted to do a cover of it since I've upskilled over the past few years. Replicated a few of the original sounds as closely as I could (eg. the distinctive sine wave synth) but also put my own spin on it a little - layered the sine with a square wave as well, introduced a few guitars and grittier bass sounds which is a bit more like the Owl City live versions I've seen, for example.

Fireflies (Owl City Cover)

It's finally here, a new track haha! I started this in December, finished the instrumental over a couple of days and tried to do the vocal line but it wasn't really working out as well as I wanted- turned out I had laryngitis, so I left it for ages while I got better, then when I was better it was just finding time to come back to it + remembering as well. I'm happy with the result now so I hope you like it!

I started with acoustic guitar, then added a couple of synths and midi drums to give it a driving beat, then mixed it all and added vocals on top. Did this all on Ableton Live 8.

Last Hope (Paramore Cover)

Acoustic Lorde cover! Mostly straight takes- had to redo a few things to fix lyrical/ peaking issues first time round and then put some basic mixing on. Just for fun, my friend Lotti asked me to cover one of Lorde's songs. x

Did the guitar for this a couple of years ago and recorded vocals but never uploaded or anything. I redid the vocals today so here's a lo-fi cover of Coldplay's Don't Panic!

Okay, so I wanted to improve my mixing skills, and I got REALLY into this synthwave sound, mostly thanks to The Midnight. Check out the original song and their isolation mix (released on Bandcamp), phenomenal band.
Keep an eye out for originals in this style. Got to do something in lockdown. Enjoy. x

Comeback Kid (The Midnight Cover) J Strider

Did a quick cover of this last week then spent a lil while tweaking the mix and remastering it several times. I've adored this song for years so to finally do a cover of it like this was really fun.
