Pulling from influences of fusion, rock, and Indian classical music, Ricardo Guerra makes his debut as leader on this EP of orginal compositions and a Carla Bley classic that create a colorful and rhythmically dynamic atmosphere and conjure feelings of joy, melancholy, and wonder.
Together with Eli Heath on bass, Benny Bock on piano, and Emmet Sher on guitar - close friends and collaborators who bring an indispensable sound, personality, and vision to this record - this group feeds off of a communal energy, bringing lively improvisation to newly interpreted music.
All compositions by Ricardo Guerra, except Ida Lupino by Carla Bley.
Many thanks to the TIMARA Studios at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music where this was recorded, and a huge thank you to Dirk Roosenberg, who so graciously and tastefully recorded, mixed, and mastered this EP.
