A Letter To The Fans

Jake grew up in a household of 8 people. He found comfort in his grandparents and mother, they would do anything they could for him. However, he was still surrounded by alcohol abuse, constant fighting, and what seemed to be uncontrollable anger. With this upbringing, he struggled with profanity, the fear of not being accepted, and would do anything he could to be accepted by society. Outside of his household, he was still surrounded by drug addicts and alcohol abusers, which caused him to feel trapped and question his purpose in life... However, he was unaware of God's intentions during this time.

 

Jake went to church with his Great Grandmother at a small Baptist church in Houston, Texas. He eventually got plugged into the youth group and began growing closer to the youth pastor. Although he was a non-believer, a friend from the youth convinced him to go to church camp in the summer of 2012, in Eunice, Louisiana. While there, he had his first real encounter with Jesus, crying out in desperation for Jesus to forgive his sins and to be the center of his life.

 

After church camp, Jake was placed back in his normal environment surrounded by sin, anger, and evil things of the world. During this time, he experienced adversity when he realized his heart was changed, but Christ didn't reign over every aspect of his life. These trials brought him to a point where he started to doubt his faith and realized something was missing. He found he was still pursuing things of the world, but he continued to go to church with his Great Grandma. When he saw her relationship with God he identified the gap that would solidify his faith. Everything she did made him want to grow spiritually and made him question his own doubts.

 

Jake has recently encountered a calling from God to do music for the rest of his life. It all started back in 2012, when he was recording in a closet at his friend David's house with his uncle Chris and cousin Joey. Since then, he has been working to pursue his call in music by making his third album, “Unintended”.

 

God has called Jake to reach people, not only in the States, but also in Cambodia where he has done mission work the last two years and will continue to follow God's plan for his life by making disciples of all nations. Delivering God's message through music and giving God glory in all aspects of his life. 

 

“I don’t care who you are, when a follower of Christ gets a call from God, you do it!” Jake states in an interview with ‘Let It Ride or Pump Yo Brakes’ radio in Orlando. Also, while discussing a mixtape from his former label-mate 'Spokin', he makes another key point that is actually the vision of his upcoming album. He states, “God is always going to come through in every circumstance you get put in, God has a plan and we have to trust it. Rely on God’s intentions and our own dreams and intentions for our lives will become smaller and less important, allowing God to reign in our lives by opening doors and providing for His people who are faithful to Him.”

 

Jake makes it clear that he isn’t perfect and he doesn’t try to be. But he will do all he can to become more like Christ, with no excuses.
