The concept behind the record is about knowing that no matter what life throws your way, things will always come together and resolve itself. Eliminate - Found A Way (Ft. Ryan Curtis)

As soon as I received the topline from Nevve I knew exactly where I wanted to take this project; to this day, Wildfire remains one of the most seamless production experiences I’ve had with a vocalist. The lyrics in this single have always resonated with me, and will forever bring back a particular feeling I’d been dwelling on at the time that the song was created. Reminiscent of past experiences, the words remind of a time when I could escape the world with someone I love, dismiss the stress of day to day life, and simply exist in the moment. With this in mind, the emotional aspects of my production were able to come through, invoking a feeling of sadness, anger, and frustration, but with a hint of hope that someday I’d be able to experience this once again.

A successor to the 2013’s ‘ReBirth’ full-length by COOH was long due on Position Chrome. Crucified between various more leftfield collaborations and experimental art projects we were really starting to wonder when Ivan Shopov’s going to open his bottomless bag of tunes.

Spanning over whole 16 tracks, ’Transcension’ brings one important message - Ivan Shopov is not only still able to deliver his signature harsh take on drum and bass but has a ton a lot more to offer the genre by skilfully playing within its very own not-so-fluid boundaries.

While tracks like ‘Cops’, ‘Anten’, ‘Tron’ or ‘New Advice’ are a perfect platform for the signature COOH slaughter on the dance floor, the record looks as far as downtempo and ambient (‘Trancscence’). In tracks like ‘Splitter’, ‘Rokit’, ‘Snow Box’, ‘Critical Mass’ and ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’ COOH flirts with a plethora of experimental yet rhythmic electronic genres, be that as vibe, percussive figures or production approach.

To sum it up, ‘Transcension’ is a record that will perfectly fit the taste of the hardcore COOH fan. However, the LP is also a must for the followers of Ivan Shopov’s broad and always varying experiments in electronic music.

This track was made as part of the Iron Chef Producer Challenge #2 2020, hosted by @Rumkraft and sponsored by Impact Roasters. 

Iron Chef is originally a Japanese cooking show, where chefs are presented with a surprise ingredient, and have a limited amount of time to prepare a dish centred around that ingredient. This track was composed under a set of similar creative restrictions:

 The producer was only allowed to use one sample.
The sample was released to everyone at the same time.
Each producer had 3 hours from start to finish.

Skovsböll is the musical project of Jacob Skovsbøll:
I adhere to no specific genre-boundaries but dwell on the immediate and spontaneous. I tell stories with texture and rythm and weave together moods and sensations with ethereal soundscapes and intricate detailed work. With my main tools being a microphone, a midi keyboard, my ears, my brain, and my computer I try to express the frantic and absurd that surrounds me in everyday life and then fill in the peaceful and orderly. I have a background as a drummer and guitarist but have since delved into the world of sound design and synthesis to have a broader palette when composing. I'm inspired by the machinistic nature of human beings and the conflict between our needs to realize ourselves and our fear of the suffering it entails. My music comes from a utopian future where this dichotomy has been dissolved.
