A warm welcome back to sometime Wonder Stories, Silhouette Music and Roam Recordings artist Jac The Disco, who here returns to the Spin On This label, which is the artists very own imprint. It's a suitably strong EP all told, with two solid 'JTD' originals being backed by similarly strong remixes. Opener 'Manglik' is a metronomic, chugging affair, with Jac The Disco peppering a throbbing, Mororder style arpeggio bassline with rising and falling synthesizer melodies and spacey electronic flourishes. Eric Duncan piles on the wide-eyed chords and synthesizer sounds on his excellent remix, while "Goddess" is a much more spacey and cosmic chunk of pulsating electronic disco. Arguably even better is Juan Maclean's accompanying rework, which gives the track a bigger, more acid-flecked feel. - Words by Junodownload

Musically speaking Germany’s 'Koenig Saatgut' real name Björn Petrikat is a rare find in an often over saturated world and it's with great pleasure to present the artists debut release on Spin On This.

'The Milky Way EP' features 4 on-point tracks with mastering duties coming from 'Peace Divisions' Justin Drake.

The EP named following the lead track showcases some of the killer works from the artist making it the perfect recipe for this summer's festival season and beyond.

Björn's early influences have encompassed the likes of Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk after then being magically attracted to the early acid house techno and Chicago house scenes with works from labels such as 'Dance Mania', 'Relief', 'Cajual' and 'Henry Street'.

Jay Rossi, aka East London DJ stalwart Jac The Disco, returns to the world of production with the Inversions EP. Fresh from the success of his last project (the Highest Heights EP, which was released on US label Wonder Stories back in January and hit Number 1 on Juno’s Disco Chart the following month), Rossi’s back on the grind. But this time his output is a bit moodier, a bit more
internal in its focus. Prepare to look inwards to your soul with this subtle, carefully executed EP.

The Inversions EP comes with two original tracks and two remixes. The title track ‘Inversions’ finds Rossi in a trippy mood, as he puts together a 7-minute stripped-back number of rolling drums and alternate tempos. This one leads you down a sinister synth alley only to open a side-door into world of spooky chants and scratchy FX. One for those mind-altering dancefloor moments, which Rossi harnesses in his DJ sets.

Remix duties for ‘Inversions’ are undertaken by Frankfurt’s Phillip Lauer. Lauer is one of those producers who refuses to allow himself to be limited to any one style, so it’s fair to wonder just what Running Back label mainstay (and label boss Gerd’s partner in Tuff City Kids) is going to rock up with. This time he’s taken the track down a lighter path, with a straight up electro-influenced version. It’s still got that 80s feel with the melodic strings working their magic, but there’s less moodiness and more light over the original’s shadowy approach.
Next comes ‘Breathe’, which has a lighter feel than the title track altogether. Anchored by a deep bassline, this one pairs rolling percussion with rising and falling chords that go from an airy intro into a more stomping track that shows its teeth about two minutes in. The piano hook at the critical moment lifts us up and up again, making this the definite feel-good moment of the EP.

Finally on remix duties for ‘Breathe’ is the multi-talented Geoff Kirkwood, aka Man Power. With his Me Me Me label now making noise all over the scene and his rep as a DJ and producer who can command venues like Panorama Bar and Fabric firmly established, Man Power is another producer you just can’t pin down genre-wise. Here he’s taking ‘Breathe’ for a tougher make-over, as he primps it up with darker FX and thunders up that bassline, sharpening those kicks and tweaking those chords to give the whole track a more driving, darker feel.

Jac The Disco 'Cosmic Matter' EP

Jac The Disco aka Jay Rossi returns with a brand new EP following last years ‘Inversions’ which was released on San Francisco’s Roam Recordings and received support from the like of B.Traits, ALFOS, Job Jobse, and Kasper Bjorke to name a few. This time round he is releasing on his own imprint ‘Spin On This’.

The debut release for the label entitled ‘Cosmic Matter” features two new original works and remixes from dance music heavyweights Prins Thomas and Nicolas Chaix alias I: Cube who is co-founder of Versatile Records and one of France’s most significant producers.

First up is the title track Cosmic Matter, which takes us on a brooding, simmering trip shot into the cosmos with nourishing galactic synths which teases and builds that dance floor tension into a fine piece of space disco electronica. Thomas then takes the track to a whole new level `with 8 minutes of driving baseline, elevating chords and percussive fills which will send you straight into the celestial light of your very being.

The B-side plays host to Bali Dance which takes more of a progressive approach and includes acidic bleeps and tweaks and rising voices which will leave then dancers feeling as if the heavens have just opened. The track features live field recordings from the rice fields of Bali creating a mind melting atmospheric trip.

I:Cube then deconstructs the parts and places them straight into a live desk mix and does what he does best encapsulates the moment and creates that ever lasting ecstatic vibe.

Premiere: Koenig Saatgut - Under The Milky Way - Spin On This

I first heard of @crazyp When they were known as Crazy Penis. This was when I picked up the 12” issue of @paperrecordings 44 from a store called HMV in 2000 for those of you who remember. 

It wasn’t until I heard the passing of Danielle that made me realise how much Crazy P’s music had influence on many of my DJ sets over the years and I hope this short compilation and tribute mix sum up some of their more underground works which I have had the pleasure of supporting in my sets. 

Death is a painful truth, but death is only a thought, don’t believe your thoughts. “Live as if death is just over your left shoulder,” advised the Yaqui medicine man Don Juan. 

Death can happen at any time… be ready. Live and love in moment, say what needs to be said, learn to love and let go.

Bring your awareness to the rising phenomena of existence and the transition of change. The cycle of life! science states energy can neither be created nor destroyed, just transformed.

Ironically this mix ends with the track entitled “there’s a better place’” perhaps that is where Danielle now resides.

As a species there has always been an intangible belief that there is something beyond the final frontier of consciousness, something beyond this life, beyond the rainbow bridge. 

That is not for me to say however, such as all the greats the legacy of their music continues for years to come, invulnerable to the winds of time and many more dances to come, Thank You to Danielle and Crazy P for brining the magic to the dance floor. I am sure there are many of you who danced the night away smiling and embracing that magic. 

My thoughts go out to all those feeling the loss of the physical form, all friends, fans and family, the music will always prevail RIP. In Gratitude.

So…… After playing room 3 at Fabric, London for Kill Em All back in January 2011 I ended up travelling and DJ'ing around Australia and South East Asia whilst the other half of Jac The Disco continued to DJ with the collective 'Legendary Children' with their Jackin Parties at Vogue Fabrics in Dalston and with the Infamous Disco Bloodbath for Bugged Out at XOYO. Meanwhile in Thailand I've been warming up on the Terrace for a great venue called Castle on a tropical island called Koh Toa. WS026: Jac The Disco - Highest Heights EP

Jay Rossi, aka East London DJ stalwart Jac The Disco, returns with the Highest Heights EP, which is available digitally on US label Wonder Stories. 10 years of DJing all over London at venues like fabric, XOYO, 93 Feet East and the Queen of Hoxton has left Rossi with an instinctive grasp of what works on the dancefloor. 

The Highest Heights EP consists of two brand new tracks plus two remixes. First off we have the title track, ‘Highest Heights’, a throbbing disco / house paean to Rossi’s love of rolling basslines and sharp claps, chock-full of moody flavour thanks to some shimmering synth work atop those pumping tribal drums at its core. When you want to move the dancefloor into peak-time misbehaviour, this is the one you reach for. 

Meanwhile the In Flagranti remix doubles down on the hypnotic qualities of the original, making it a real 3am chugger complete with even tighter drums and hypnotic chords that can power a dancefloor well past dawn, in the right hands. Rossi’s signature warm sound gives way to a tougher approach as In Flagranti summons more of a jacking, machine-funk vibe. 

Next comes ‘Good Times’, a low-slung underground disco number that really speaks to the hips as its lazy, sun-drenched vibes echo through the ether. Anchored by a sinuously tropical guitar bassline, soaring FX and scintillating claps, this number really highlights the warm groove-led aesthetic that’s central to the whole Jac The Disco sound. 

Then on the remix, Wonder Stories boss Aimes adds some weight to the laidback original by toughening up the rolling bass and spacing out the guitar riffs further into cosmic disco territory. If the OG is about getting the dancers going, then this version is about sending them straight into the stratosphere, via the squelchy acid synths that punch up the outro and aim straight for the heavens.

There was a chill in the breeze, it was bitter upon the tongue as he opened and closed his lips. Taking in a deep breath he began to wonder why it had taken him so long to find his way to the seaside, it was as if he had been hesitantly putting it off for far too long only to have a change of heart at the end of his trip. Walking through the marshes he had batted away the rain and the clouds in the pursuit of something new and glorious on the other side. Here it was...

Jac the Disco is set to release a new EP on Roam Recordings, a release which has been well supported thus far. We bring to you the Man Power remix from the release.

PREMIERE: Jac the Disco - Breathe (Man Power Remix)[Roam Recordings]

Jay Rossi, aka East London DJ stalwart Jac The Disco, returns to the world of production with the Inversions EP. Fresh from the success of his last project (the Highest Heights EP, which was released on US label Wonder Stories back in January and hit Number 1 on Juno's Disco Chart the following month), Rossi's back on the grind. But this time his output is a bit moodier, a bit more internal in its focus. Prepare to look inwards to your soul with this subtle, carefully executed EP.

The Inversions EP comes with two original tracks and two remixes. The title track 'Inversions' finds Rossi in a trippy mood, as he puts together a 7-minute stripped-back number of rolling drums and alternate tempos. This one leads you down a sinister synth alley only to open a side-door into world of spooky chants and scratchy FX. One for those mind-altering dancefloor moments, which Rossi harnesses in his DJ sets.

Remix duties for 'Inversions' are undertaken by Frankfurt's Phillip Lauer. Lauer is one of those producers who refuses to allow himself to be limited to any one style, so it's fair to wonder just what Running Back label mainstay (and label boss Gerd's partner in Tuff City Kids) is going to rock up with. This time he's taken the track down a lighter path, with a straight up electro-influenced version. It's still got that 80s feel with the melodic strings working their magic, but there's less moodiness and more light over the original's shadowy approach.

Next comes 'Breathe', which has a lighter feel than the title track altogether. Anchored by a deep bassline, this one pairs rolling percussion with rising and falling chords that go from an airy intro into a more stomping track that shows its teeth about two minutes in. The piano hook at the critical moment lifts us up and up again, making this the definite feel-good moment of the EP.

Finally on remix duties for 'Breathe' is the multi-talented Geoff Kirkwood, aka Man Power. With his Me Me Me label now making noise all over the scene and his rep as a DJ and producer who can command venues like Panorama Bar and Fabric firmly established, Man Power is another producer you just can't pin down genre-wise. Here he's taking 'Breathe' for a tougher make-over, as he primps it up with darker FX and thunders up that bassline, sharpening those kicks and tweaking those chords to give the whole track a more driving, darker feel.

Exclusive Jac The Disco 'Cosmic Matter (Prins Thomas Remix)'

Londoner Jay Rossi, better known under his Jac The Disco moniker, delivers the first EP of his newly and co-founded label Spin On This'. 'Cosmic Matters', the title of the label's debut EP, comes with two original tracks, 'Cosmic Matters' and 'Bali Dance', as well as two remixes from two of the scene's most iconic producers, namely I:Cube and Prins Thomas. While French legend I:Cube took on remix duties for 'Bali Dance', Prins Thomas reworks the EP's title track. The Norwegian producer turns the orginal take into an eight minute lasting journey of blissful and mental sound-experiences paired with a lush bass line that's basically rolling out the red carpet for the varying synths and percussions to walk the path and transport the listener to a mental state of mind that hits closest to the imagination of reaching fulfillment in sound spheres and niches.

Thomas then takes the track to a whole new level `with 8 minutes of driving baseline, elevating chords and percussive fills which will send you straight into the celestial light of your very being.
The B-side plays host to Bali Dance which takes more of a progressive approach and includes acidic bleeps and tweaks and rising voices which will leave then dancers feeling as if the heavens have just opened. The track features live field recordings from the rice fields of Bali creating a mind melting atmospheric trip.
I:Cube then deconstructs the parts and places them straight into a live desk mix and does what he does best encapsulates the moment and creates that ever lasting ecstatic vibe
