SOULMEEX record label returns this summer with a heatwave of nostalgia-infused grooves, welcoming French producer Harrington for his debut release on the label. Known for his raw, emotive take on electronica, Harrington blends italo, dream house, and vintage synth textures with a distinct nod to the golden era of Chicago and New York club culture. The result: two original cuts that pulse with timeless energy.

On the A side, Dancin’ Better channels a bittersweet euphoria, driven by retro drum machines, silky basslines, and melancholic melodies that feel both familiar and fresh. The remix comes courtesy of Prom Night, one of Copenhagen’s most vital dancefloor architects. His version reimagines the track turning it into a peak-time heater for dreamy dancefloors.

Flip to the B side for System Nation, a darker, more propulsive journey through late-night zones, with Harrington crafting a groove that’s both hypnotic and emotionally charged. Stepping up on remix duty is Berlin’s own Maltitz. His italo remix injects System Nation with shimmering synths nodding to the genre’s roots while pushing the vibe forward.

MiZi MuZiK continues its sonic journey with James Harcourts futuristic brand of intricate synth work, stripped drum structures, and blooming euphoria. For catalog no. 2, James delivers three-tracker Symmetry —a choppy, synth-crazed piece of sound alchemy that merges the cerebral with the visceral, unveiling new nuances on every listen. Hedonista is quintessential Harcourt: moulding highly technical synth-work into an accessible, floor- focused groover with an avant-garde twist, James unfolds an array of pitch-bending lead themes that arc across a field of radiant pads. Ricocheting metallic plucks tear through bright atmospheres, completing an artful oscillation between serene beauty and dancefloor exultation. The title track Symmetry unfolds a radically refreshing concept of club music. Built atop a compact, tomtom-driven beat, Symmetry populates its stripped frequency spectrum with bit-crushed, spaced-out, and pitch-bent synth salvos. Thoughtfully giving each the room to unfold their nuances and particularities, James explores a vast array of intricately crafted soundscapes and energies —Symmetry ends up a bleeding-edge tour de force of electric synthesis and unexpected dancefloor curveball. Evolution closes out the three-tracker with a booming array of oscillators that gradually morph into a bright and hopeful orchestra of electric contortions, chopped-up pulse waves, and cascading white- noise percussion. Set to an infectiously pitching bassline theme, Evolution gradually opens up the filterbanks until all that remains is pure, brightly blazing euphoria. Through its pitch-bending, stripped-down futurism, Symmetry feels powerfully refreshing. But in many ways, its also James Harcourt at his most elemental: every note and rhythm is deliberate, precisely sculpted, and thoughtfully carved into the frequency spectrum. Chase the Sun is a vibrant, cinematic track that follows the whimsical yet dramatic journey of a fiery red fox as it races after the elusive sun. With a playful melody layered over a pulsing, dramatic beat, the music captures the fox’s relentless determination as it leaps over jagged cliffs, dodges swirling storms, and weaves through enchanted forests. The tone is a thrilling blend of tension and humor—think soaring synths for the fox’s daring jumps, punctuated by quirky synth blips as it comically stumbles but never gives up. Each obstacle overcome brings a triumphant swell, building to a heart-pounding climax where the fox nearly catches the sun, only for it to slip away at the last moment, leaving a bittersweet yet amusing resolution.
