Commissioned by Beirut Art Center in the framework of Micro-commissions no. 4:
Recorded and Mastered by Anthony Sahyoun, Tunefork studios 

The patch built for this piece using Max/MSP detects transient sounds from gathered audio recordings of protestors banging on pots, rails and metal sheets during the 2019-2020 protests. Impacts and percussiveness were converted into computational data. These were used by the system that controls this sound piece, to trigger and manipulate low frequency sounds, emerging from transducers placed on Beirut Art Center’s bridge. Here, low frequencies as the ones with the longest wavelength, outlive any event as they travel the furthest, reaching zones where only sound and its vibrations are capable to infiltrate.

NP [Jad Atoui & Anthony Sahyoun] - Iridescence

Although the sounds of generators and other electrical machines have now become familiar to the weary ears of the residents of the city of Beirut, Lebanon, they are perhaps more prominent at night when everything else is quieter. In this sound piece, sound artist and improviser Jad Atoui positions himself as a narrator whose voices, sounds, and glitches express the vertiginous effects these once provisional technologies have on the people who listen to them.

The Last Bloom

Composed for Irtijal's "Istimrar" series, this piece focuses on the different aspects of resonance emitted from drum instruments where transient sounds were eliminated by using different techniques.
These techniques include the usage of rotating motors, transducers and contact mics placed on cymbals, hi hats, snares, kick drums & floor toms as well as processing sound through max/msp.

Little do people know about @Jad-Atoui's association with the black arts of breakcore and jungle in early 2010s with groups such as Acoustmatik & Kaotik System, an era ruled by the underground. In this tapestry of perpetual snares and decimating kicks, Atoui revisits the past in cunning fashion, a retrospective on Lebanon's arguably most exciting times.
