‘Phantom settlements, or paper towns are settlements that appear on maps but do not actually exist.’ You cannot change your origin - nor trade the skin you were born into. Yet, that place where you originally come from, can sometimes feel like a smudged spot on a map - non-existent - but it’s forever a part of your journey. 

Being a foster child and learning about my background, caused me to feel confused and that I’m from a so called ’paper town’.
It turned into the brainchild of a new language; the very reason for my need to write songs - where I can both communicate with myself - as well as with others.

The cover artwork is created by Ulrika Aldefelt - and it has the very same color scheme like the layers of tapestry found in the house of my biological parents’ - where I didn’t grow up. This finding was kindly sent to me by the new owners, after having renovated the old 18th century croft.

The whistling in the song - symbolizes the fact that I heard whistling as I cleaned out the house for the last time. It was like a ghost from the past being happy I was there... / Jade

Papertown

’Fear’ is a song she wrote 20 some years ago, but suddenly it stirred up from within - and the recording and the release was quickly planned..

 - There are songs that stay with me always - and I feel that I want to keep releasing them as part of my musical journey. With the constant reports and news about the shooting and killings by young people  - it is now more current than ever.  It was during my stay in US, after a visit at the neighbors’ house,  - where the man wanted to show his latest toy, a revolver - that  I strongly recall his own words: ”You know, I like the weight of it in my hand - and now I keep in it in my nightstand always…” The next day I wrote ’Fear” as  it dawned on me what I’ve actually had witnessed that night…

Fear

’My Storage’ - the song that summons up the many layers off stories that make for my constant need for songwriting...
- Given the right questions - you can reply in the most honest and rediscovering way. I had forgotten all about it - but after an afternoon tea with a new friend of mine - I returned home and wrote this one in half an hour! It’s about the time I borrowed the attic from a man I hardly knew - to put all of my things and in store there - 'cause my mind was set on going to US - not knowing when or if I would ever return… Once back in Sweden - going through my belongings - the things told me my story - again - from a new and different perspective… / Jade

MY STORAGE

When I first heard Emma Nilsdotter performing her own songs’ - I knew I had found the voice for ’Man Overboard’ (which originally is a duet with the Danish singer Lise Blaase).

This revisited version Man overboard is due for release on September 8 - and it's part of the Ellen album which will follow on September 15.

Jade: In these worrisome times  - I felt the urge to make a new version of  this song and release it before the new year…
'LAST CHANCE' is due for release December 29th.
”Last chance to evacuate planet earth - see what we’re doing wrong
Our escape could be hidden in a comet’s tail….” 
We live at a time when everything’s urgent. The song consist of questions 
I started with the pump organ, then added piano - and the cello is playing a crucial part here. Also, I let my godson, do a speaking part - emphasizing the fact that the children will be the ones living with the consequences of all the many traumas happening throughout the world right now.

In a world with fruitless, meaningless wars and hatred poured out into comments on screens - I felt a need to lean my head against nature - to see if I can trace the sound of any distant tributes to humanity....
No one knows nor owns the future - let’s leave the words unsaid on the riverbed.

HEREAFTER

’Paper To Fire’ - is the name of Jade Ell’s new single and just as the title implies, the song reflects the helplessness you may feel, when all of a sudden you’re being strongly affected by something/someone - and you can’t help but react. In fact - your whole body reacts ... Your legs won’t hold you up, and the tears are rising...A familiar feeling is back - and it is just as fragile as paper to the fire ...
The song is built up by an omnichord - and then the electric guitar continues the journey in this arrangement with drums, piano, organ, pump organ, cello and sounds - that makes for a soundscape creating a drive throughout.

Jade Ell is a Swedish artist and songwriter located in Stockholm, Sweden. As an established songwriter, she has participated on albums that have sold over 5 million physical albums worldwide  - and generated nearly 65 million streams. Jade has also been awarded by STIM, The Swedish Performing Right’s Society, as well as by SKAP (The Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) and her songs have been recorded by various international artists, such as RBD (Rebeldes), #1 at Billboard Top Latin Album Charts (Mexico), Fey (Mexico), Diego (Mexico), Sanne Salomonsen (DK), Yuki (Japan), Natacha (CH), Sandra (DE) among others.
