Acapella music recorded at the side of the river at Mayantuyacu, the home of an Ashaninkan indigenous elder and his healing center where he receives visitors.   In my annual travels to spend a season in the Amazon studying the plants, I have slowly gathered these songs as poems, prayers, and woven patterns of my inner journeys in silence and with the sacred plants.

Sol Selectas is an American label run by Sabo and the imprint shares its owners love for tribal grooves and melody rich synth lines.

The label's latest offering is from Mexico based Metrika who is best known to many for his residency at the Day Zero festival organised by Damian Lazarus. He has also released tracks on labels including Crosstown Rebels, Akbal Music and Hot Waves.

Metrika previously featured on Sol Selectas in 2017 when he reworked a track from Sabo’s album as part of the remix pack, but this time he is back as a fully-fledged member of the label's family with an EP of his own original music.

“Yo Nací” opens the release with vocals taken from the traditional Icaros ceremony, and the track is influenced by a shamanistic out of body experience where Metrika was witness to his own death, only to be reborn with a fresh start at life. Capturing the spiritual mood of the ceremony and blending it with club friendly sounds, he has created an intense dance floor experience.
