Medicine Dance Vol. 1: A dance Journey through ancient wisdom

 I have journeyed through the lush depths of jungles of central America and ascended the majestic peaks of Peru, deeply listening to the whispers of Mother Nature and learning from indigenous teachers. These experiences have transformed my understanding of music, leading to the creation of something truly extraordinary: Medicine Dance.

Medicine Dance is not just music; it is a profound healing modality, akin to the sacred ceremonies of ayahuasca and other plant medicines. This unique form of ecstatic dance music has been infused with the spiritual wisdom and healing practices of ancient traditions, uniting the soaring vision of the eagle with the grounded presence of the condor. It is a convergence of South American influences, woven together like the Chakana with instruments that carry the soul of the land—charango, flute, medicine chants, and an array of percussions and bass.

This musical mix is this first release of a planned series. It represents the culmination of my journey. It is a compilation of some of my favorite artists, each track a testament to the deep connection between rhythm, nature, and spirit. These melodies are more than just sounds; they are prayers, invocations of the natural world's healing power, and echoes of the teachings imparted by wise shamans and healers.

From the vibrant beats that mimic the heart's pulse to the gentle flutes that whisper like the wind through the trees, each track is crafted to guide you on a transformative journey. As you dance, you will find yourself transported to the verdant jungles and the serene mountain tops, feeling the presence of ancient spirits guiding your every move.

Medicine Dance Vol. 1 - Jagua

This was my first time playing in Bali, and I was honored to kick off with my debut set at the iconic Yoga Barn during their Friday Night Ecstatic Dance on October 18, 2024.

If you've experienced Bali, you know how wild and high-energy it can get – and I felt called to bring some serious medicine to the dance floor. The Yoga Barn's Friday vibe leans more "dance, club, and sexy," so I decided to weave in some dynamic sounds to match the energy. You’ll hear tracks like *TroyBoi* and *Morrilo* blending in with my usual medicine sounds, giving this set a unique punch that I feel is one of my strongest releases to date.

The journey starts with *Ape Chimba's Amoriri (tribal bass remix)* by Temple Step Project, who synchronistically set the tone at the Friday dance the week before. From there, it flows into a mix of *Scott Nice, Elephant Heart, Poranguí,* and other soulful artists, including one of my favorite groups, *Jakare!* This blend of styles balances medicine vibes with some intense energy that will have you on the edge, perfect for both pre mixed ecstatic dance sets and lively house gatherings.

The Yoga Barn, Bali – Friday Night Ecstatic Dance 10/18/24

Super excited to share this one—definitely one of my best sets yet! After becoming friends with Temple Step and spending time with him, along with learning from other professional DJs, I’ve gained much knowledge in the mixing world.

 I’ve started incorporating harmonic mixing and using Stems to blend my favorite medicine tracks with bass, hip hop, trap and house music.”

1st hour is bass/hip hop/trap
2nd hour is House/dance music

 This set is a sacred journey—an offering of sound, intention, and movement. What a joy it was to play at NV City Ecstatic Dance for my first time.

Opening with a deep prayer from Porangui, we set our hearts in alignment with the Andean traditions of the Chakana, calling in the 4 directional forces and animal totems as well as offering our gratitude, and connection.

From this space, the music flows into a water blessing, a live-woven transmission featuring the sacred sounds of Murray Kyle and Geometrae, inviting us to honor the life-giving currents within and around us.

~I had the honor of creating this live remix of Murray Kyle fused with the ethereal beats of Geometrae. This sacred creation embodies the reverence for the water, carrying the lightness of the hummingbird and the deep connection to the water. It is a prayer for all colors, all nations, standing united, honoring the water and holding each drop as precious. Through the music, I wove a spiritual tapestry, blending prayer and dance, creating a divine flow that unites us all in the sacred rhythm of the earth.

As the energy rises, we travel through the mystical bass realms of Savej and TroyBoi, guided by the ancient rhythms of Morillo and the earth-bound medicine of Poranguí.

~I am honored to premiere my own cinematic, bass-heavy remix of "Spirals" by Darpan, a reimagining that transforms the original into an expansive, cinematic intro journey featuring original production as well as mixing in Savej, Jakare, Iyakuh, Sunchild, and Porangui.

The dance then expands into a ceremonial tribal house experience, where the organic grooves of Jakare, Raio, Liquid Bloom, Bloomurian and many others who weave a tapestry of ancestral remembrance and ecstatic liberation.

This is more than a DJ set—it is a prayer in motion, a gateway to embodied awakening, a celebration of spirit through sound. Let the music move you, uplift you, and guide you home.

The journey began in the jungles of Wilsons creek in Australia, where I met Darpan, a true carrier of sacred sound. After offering my hands and heart to help him on his land, this remix began to bloom first within, and then without. It wasn’t just a song I was re-creating, but a ceremonial echo of the time, space, and spirit we shared.

Into this spiral I called the voices and rhythms of medicine musicians who’ve walked the path: Jakare, Iyaku, Porangui, Savej, Sunchild, and Advan Haschi, each bringing their own ancestral frequencies, woven like vines around the core of Darpan’s medicine

This song is sacred to me. It was first sung in my Las Vegas hometown over a decade ago, during our moonlit meditations and fire ceremonies. I didn’t know it then, but it had travel the world, becoming a chant of healing in places like the Mystical Yoga Farm, where voices rose around the fire, calling in spirit, weaving hearts.

"Spiral" is a deep shamanic journey,a weaving of ambient textures, sacred rhythms, and ethereal vocals that guide the listener inward. This track spirals gently through space and spirit, merging Earth and sky in a meditative dance of sound. moving you into a slow dance, perfect for contact dance.

On April 16th, I had the honor of guiding one of the most powerful Ecstatic Dance journeys I’ve ever offered,  and from what I was told, it landed deep.

"Top 5 sets I’ve ever heard here,” someone said… and I felt that.

This mix is a full-spectrum dance medicine ceremony, one that packs a serious punch, while weaving in soul and spirit. Bringing the Yeshua energy in right at the beginning, to call forth the resurrection. From the deep sub bass of artists like CloZee, TroyBoi, Morillo, Savej, and ATLiens, to the sacred textures of Jakare and Murray Kyle, this set moves like a serpent: pulsing, weaving, expanding.

This one is special.

One of my favorite tracks from the artist Little Whale, when I first heard Tejedora Cósmica, I felt something ancient stir. The rhythm, the space, the feminine force moving through it... I felt invited to remix what I heard. Not to change it, but to weave with it, honoring the original prayer while bringing in a new thread of sound.

So I remixed it. With love, reverence, and a deep sense of timing.

After talking with Lauren (Little Whale) she expressed how she would love to release it together on both our Spotifys, which deeply touched me.
