A Robin Hood Christmas is a modern London folk myth.

Told through wandering minstrel instruments — wooden flutes, small strings, footsteps and breath — and threaded with the low pulse of the city, the album reimagines the legend of Robin Hood in a winter London where Christmas doesn’t reach everywhere equally.

This is Robin of Epping Forest: moving on foot, off-grid, redistributing what’s pooled too high. Alongside him are Little John, who carries the weight; Maid Marian, who keeps the network alive; Friar Tuck, who offers warmth without judgement; and the Sheriff of Notting Hill, whose power is polite, procedural, and still.

Medieval folk textures blend with subtle modern sounds — jungle fragments, underground drones, glitch echoes — not as contrast, but as continuity. The forest is no longer a place. It’s a practice. It moves where people move.

There are no heroes here. No victories.
Just winter held together — this time.

Story
In the Kingdom of Nyoka, where the sun rises between acacias and baobabs, animals live under the sacred balance of the Ukuta wa Mwanga the Wall of Light an invisible boundary that separates the world of the living from that of the ancestors. The current king, Mwamba, a lion with a mane as black as night, rules wisely, guided by the spirits of the ancestors and the advice of Zamani, an ancient python who speaks in dreams.
His son, Sefu, is a young golden lion with a sun-shaped mark on his forehead. Unlike his father, Sefu is impulsive, curious, and senses that the world beyond the Ukuta wa Mwanga holds secrets that could free all animals from the eternal cycle of hunting and killing.
Mwamba's brother, Kivuli, a leopard exiled for breaking the peace pact, returns with a horde of hyenas and jackals. He promises a new order where the strong rule without law or tradition. Through deceit and dark magic, he causes Mwamba's death during a solar eclipse, blaming Sefu and forcing him to flee.
Sefu escapes to the Forest of Echoes, where he meets Ayo, a young elephant who can remember the voices of the ancestors, and Tambo, a rhinoceros who composes songs with thunder. Together they discover that the Ukuta wa Mwanga is weakening, and that if it is not restored, the world will be devoured by Kivuli's shadow.
Guided by Zamani in his dreams, Sefu returns with Ayo and Tambo. He confronts Kivuli atop Mount Jua, where the ancestors descend as dancing lights. In a ritual combat, Sefu invokes the Roar of the Sun, an ancestral energy that purifies the land and restores balance.
Sefu becomes king, not only of the lions, but of all animals that respect the cycle of life. Under his reign, the Ukuta wa Mwanga becomes a bridge between worlds, and each dawn is celebrated with songs, drums, and dances that remind us that even in darkness, the sun always returns.
