I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, the first progenitor who is tending the cows, yielding all desire, in abodes built with spiritual gems, surrounded by millions of purpose trees, always served with great reverence and affection by hundreds of thousands of lakṣmīs or gopīs.

TRANSLATION
1) Glories to the auspicious forms of Sri Guru and Gaura, and all glories to Sri Radha-Krsna’s auspicious amorous love.
 
2) All glories to Their auspicious nisanta-lila which heralds the end of night and Their auspicious awakening, bringing auspiciousness to all! Glories to mangala-arati, which awakens a sphurti of that nisanta-lila within the devotees’ hearts!
 
3) While You sleep, the jivas lie sleeping deep in their ignorance, but upon Your rising, the whole world awakens! [Meaning, if You manifest in their hearts, then all tattva and all siddhanta will be revealed to them.]
 
4) (Prabhu!) Shower Your kind glance upon the world now. Awaken in my heart that most auspicious rati.
 
5) The peacocks, parrots, suka, sari, and cuckoos (by Vrnda-devi’s order) are singing the reasons for Your auspicious awakening.
 
6) Sitting on the branches of the trees, all the birds sing their supremely sweet morning melodies which resound throughout the forest. Those sweet, soft, auspicious sounds come and grace everyone!
 
7) In the pond, which is filled with many varieties of flowers, the lotuses sway in the center. The breezes spread their auspicious aromas in all directions, bringing pure delight and joy to all.
 
8) Large cymbals, gongs, bells, conches, karatalas and auspicious mrdangas play the supreme rasa.
 
9) Performing mangala arati within the company of devotees, the unfortunate Kesava (the servants of Sri Kesava) sings nama-sankirtana.

TRANSLATION
1) Glory, glory to Lord Nityananda. He is Lord Balarama Himself. To deliver the fallen sinners He extends His two arms.
 
2) His half words spoken in a choked voice are the sweetest nectar. Whomever He sees He hugs in the ecstasy of spiritual love.
 
3) His eyes are always restless. They are like two black bees flying among golden lotus flowers.
 
4) Lord Nitai is the master of mercy. Seeing the people tormented by troubles, He strings for them a necklace of Lord Hari’s holy names. To person after person He gives that necklace.
 
5) The arrogant blasphemers and sinners He rips into shreds. To the poor fallen people He gives the gift of ecstatic spiritual love.
 
6) Calling out, “O! O Gauranga!”, He falls to the ground. His whole body is soaked with tears.
 
7) In his heart Vrndavana dasa thinks: Now Lord Nityananda is like a golden Mount Sumeru fallen to the ground.

This beautiful recording of the traditional bhajan Shri Vraja Dhama Mahimamrita was recorded by Ramdas Abhiram Das (Kevin Yee) in Florence, Italy in his painting studio. 

He sang and played all the instruments on this piece - flute, santoor, sarod, tabla and more...

This beautiful recording has never been publically released, but is uploaded with a desire to share the lesser known, but no less sublime, creative work of this lifelong devotional artist, who passed away in July 2020. 

I feel extremely indebted to Ramdas and his wife Dhrti, for their many decades of artistic service. Their paintings have offered inspiration and spiritual connection to countless people all over the world, and as teachers, they have gifted their students with instructions to be treasured for life. 

I was grateful to study with them for a month in India in 2007. Though many years ago, the experience is one I have returned to time and time again for fresh inspiration and guidance.

More on Ramdas:
Born in 1951 in Maui, Hawaii, as Kevin Albert Yee, Ramdas Abhiram Das, graduated with a degree in Fine Art from California State University at Fullerton. He began his career by doing illustration work, first for an international publishing company and later for the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT). In 1980 he relocated to Florence, Italy, where he studied at the Academia de Siena and the Academia de Arte Firenze and learnt the art and techniques of fresco and egg tempera. He was the Art Director for the Italian BBT for six years. Though trained initially in classical art and illustration, over the years he has developed his own style, marked for its spontaneity and mystique. Narratives set amidst nature, he has painted more than 300 oil paintings and his work has been exhibited in Italy, France, Belgium, England, South Africa, and India.
