Broke(n)

Alright I’m five or six days into this experience and up until this point haven’t even had the wherewithal to deal much with

It’s been wake up 
Pop a pill 
Fall asleep 
Then repeat 

Try to hit a homie or two 

It’s early on, but the days are starting to roll on. I didn’t know that at this point I was going to be going to the acute rehab. I was out of ICU and these were the first day really fully putting things together.

All I knew is I wanted to know what was going on with my body.
Then once I knew I wanted to get healthy. 

Slowly, but surely I’d been making small lifestyle changes to inevitably not end up here.

Healthy is affirmation 
A reminder to do the things that serve my body, my soul, and my mind 
As well as a push to get the f*ck through this



“I’ve been eating all my vegetables and going to the gym”

But how does one become healthy? What does that mean? 

“Back then I just wanted the cash 
More 
But I really wanted to live 
Have a little bit more power to forgive
Be a better role model to the kids.”


That’s it- moneys nice because I want honestly the stability. But what is any of that when your body’s half ass working? What is any of that when you are fixated on judgment on others but mostly yourself?


That’s when it clicked 

I am Jahnay the motherf*cking Artist

My power and potential in this world has not fully been tapped into and it’s my responsibility as an artist to use my talents to bridge the gap about issues I care about to those who are meant to receive

I want to get/ be healthy for myself but I also want to do it with YOU.

My platform is small now and when it grows I’ll be just as ready because I’ll always be intentional about my art and it’s purpose.

My circle of friends and people that I love I want to see you thrive as well. “West will have you thinking body mind and soul aint connected. But I’ve been out here searching for something a little different” 


I’m on the mission for getting this body moving the way it needs to be, eating foods that serve purpose, and making sure my cups full.

I’ll be where I need to be- no doubt because I said so.  I hope your on the journey too.

“I’ve been anticipating everything Mr. Dr Man’s been saying.”

Why are these issues with my brain flaring up? Why am I struggling to move half of my body. Why am is everyone waking me up in the middle of the night? And When can I go home?

“I lost control of shit 
But I’m slowly gaining it 
Oh wait like maybe not
Fuck man I just don’t know”

A built of anticipation and wanting to throw my own pity party created this song. About 8 days in “Party for One” was being made.


At this time my blood and heart were pumping literally and I wasn’t allowed out of the bed thus the concept. I wanted to find a fun way to express the sadness I felt about the situation like “Got a Lotta drama, bout the mom, the job, the dogs, how they payin rent” The job let me go on day two of this entire situation and just adding the additional stress off that was not going to help. I’m so happy with the way “Party for One” has turned into for me it’s become an anthem for me to pump myself and push myself through the unsurity of the situation and anxieties that come with.
