Wonderwheel Recordings is proud to present a new single from recent signing Tremor, a Buenos Aries based trio that combine rhythms and sounds across South American genre borders with digital vibes and electronic music culture into a sound that has been dubbed “Digital Folklorico” by NPR. Here on their debut single, “Huella” is a mystical affair rooted in the Andes with soaring vocals from singer Micaela Chaque, pounding drums, dubby synth squelches and deep echoing bass. Remixes come from Mexico City’s Frikstalkers who turn “Huella” into a dancefloor friendly chugging four to the floor dub “steppers” remix, and Folklorico wunderkind Chancha Via Circuto who ups the mysticism of the original with his understaded, nearly ambient refix on the tune. Also included is the instrumental and a bonus cut that will not be on the album, “Tarkas”.

After last year’s Dub De Gaita 12” pairing Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto with producer Adrian Sherwood, ZamZam and Llorona knew we wanted to continue the partnership by releasing more material from the same incredible sessions that produced the three tracks on the single.  The Dub De Gaita Vols II and III double LP is the result, a towering achievement in cumbia, dub, and international musical cross-pollination. 

Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto are Colombian cumbia roots icons, legendary in their homeland as guardians of ancient regional musical and cultural traditions. Here they are joined by another legend, On-U Sound founder and dub producer Adrian Sherwood. Alongside Llorona Records ́s Diego Gómez, Sherwood and the band have created an absolutely unique sound that seamlessly blends timeless cumbia rhythms and sonorities with powerfully restrained dub mixing and low end power.

It is no exaggeration or hyperbole to call this mystical music, a heart-centered psychogeographical journey from the Caribbean Coast of Colombia through Jamaica and UK dubscapes. The heartbeat rhythms this team explores so deftly unite musical cultures in such a natural way that the sound they produce feels almost inevitable. Vocal exhortations, massed flutes, organic bass and keys, extraordinary volleys of percussion, echo trails, reggae skanks, and truly masterful arrangements and dubbing make this a simply crucial release. ‘Shinsekai’ develops its very own language as each of the hypnotic tracks meanders through different stages of deepness and tension, evolving into the bigger picture of an album with a dazzling amount of intrinsic details.

It can be found on the new Displaced Masters set (out 10 Nov 2017 on On-U Sound) of unreleased early Dub Syndicate tracks from the vaults, released alongside fresh vinyl re-press of the first 4 Dub Syndicate albums and a CD boxset anthology, Ambience In Dub 1982 - 1985.
