I love this song. The beat came together when I was in Austin, Texas after SXSW, I was down there with my mom and while we were waiting in line for some food she heard a street performer from across the street, and sent me over to get her name. We missed most of her set but apparently we weren't the only ones to notice her as my friend Appleby ended up writing an article about her for Pigeons and Planes (which you can read herepigeonsandplanes.com/2015/04/missed…nnection-sxsw/) . After we got back to the hotel I had to look her up, I ended up sampling her and starting this beat in apple headphones, and the instrumental ended up becoming the most listened to song on my phone. I showed it to Roosevelt and after spending weeks listening over he ended up laying down his verse at Classick Studio on my 19th birthday (July 2nd). The next day I flew out to LA to DJ a show for Orgena in his hometown, and I asked him for a verse on Testament. I had played him "Calm The Fuck Down" before and he agreed to be a part of the project if he could get on this track. Once it was finished, Roosevelt described the song as him murdering the beat (1st verse) and Orgena bringing it back to life (2nd verse), and I thought he phrased it perfectly.
