Soul Maniacs- A collective soul & funk band

Soulmaniacs is a Zurich based band created in 1998. Through out the years, the band has become a collective featuring numerous musicians from the Swiss scene.

From streetplayers to one of the nation’s finest live acts, the Soul Maniacs now own every stage—in ever-shifting formations and set-ups. Why? ‘Coz they are a musicians’ collective, established 1998.

This phone recording captured the Soul Maniacs live as a four-man (yes, no she’s on stage tonight) line-up at one of Zürich’s hidden gastronomic pearls— Damm, a true hideout close to everything, down by the river, on a beautiful Friday evening: July 11, 2025, around 7 pm Central European hot Summer Time.

All sound started as my voice recorded in zoom r4. I created bass, rhythm and lead. I used zoom r4 amps, distortion, reverb and echo.

I moved 3 recorded tracks to Koala Sampler, created a few sequences, chopped my samples and created more sequences.

This song has the ability to catapult me into the fantastic world of fantasy, thus making me distract myself a little from the ugliness of this life full of evil, where children, instead of dying under bombs, can rejoice and live their lives under a sky full of sun and stars, where grass and flowers act as a carpet for their games. All tracks  on “Alive when live”  are Improv sessions recorded live using a  iPad 12, 3 midi controllers, the M-wave SMK25, korg microkey2-25 and a Korg Nanocontroll2 with audiobus+AUM While running Korg Gadget3, Groovebox, Launchpad, Blocs wave,Fugue machine,RD*FD drum machines and multiple synth and keyboard apps.
