It's spring break here. My family is home with the flu. In between the chills, medication, and coughing fits, I decided to try something incredibly daunting to me. This is a VERY difficult song to recreate, let alone while having the flu. I tried my absolute best to do it justice. 
There is an incredible amount of injustice and hatred in this world. Most recently, we have seen this evil strike Ukraine. That is NOT to say we don't see this same hatred in our homeland. Racism, sexism, classism, every type of social divide imaginable rears its ugly head in every nation. But simple acts of kindness, unity, empathy, compassion, and support echo between the walls of bigotry and oppression. I choose to believe that people are inherently good. The bad ones are just louder and get more attention.
In 1973, a progressive group wrote what would become one of my all time favorite Pink Floyd songs. The lyrics apply to so much more than war. In my mind, they shine a revealing light on cruelty, apathy, cognitive dissonance, and the nature of humanity to live our lives in an unintentional bubble. In my humble and rather short time on this earth, I've noticed that, for the average person, it typically takes a very intense and sudden change to make us step out of our bubble and begin to consider things from the perspective of another. I am just as guilty as anyone of this self imposed isolation. 
I hope you listen to the message of this song. Pink Floyd created true art. Life imitates art. Not the other way around. Be brave enough to step out of your bubble. Stand up for what is right. Racism, sexism, and EVERY form of intentional separation must be put aside for the future of humanity. It's an incredibly difficult task, but the cause is just. Being a good person demands you to do what is right, regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, class, etc. Just be kind. 
Also, I challenge Putin to a "Crossroads" style guitar or saxophone battle. No fighting dirty. No cheap shots. One on one, no tag ins. If I win, you leave Ukraine alone. If you win.... well, not to be arrogant but....you won't.

Hey, guys. I'm a musician born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. I play many different styles of music on various instruments including guitar, saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, and a few others. I have a small home studio where I record, mix and master all of my own music. Every bit of the music you hear is written (woth the exception of cover tunes), played, and recorded solely by myself. I take every opportunity I can to play music in any genre. I have played gigs ranging from Reggae and modern Pop and Hip-Hop all the way to 1920's swing music.
My biggest influences on guitar are Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I grew up listening to classic rock and went to college at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where I obtained my bachelor's and master's degree in Music. i am now a band director and continue to pursue my dream of playing and recording music professionally. 
My main influences on saxophone are Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and the more modern sounds of 'Blue' Lou Marini on the blues side.
I have a wonderful wife named Devin and three beautiful children named Greyson, Owen, and Nora. My ultimate dream is to be able to give them a happy and comfortable life by doing what I love: making music.
