I've spent the better part of 5 years obsessed with the notion of creating an album, and the better part of 2 years deeply consumed by the process. As an artist who's gradually found his way through the technical aspects of that process through painstaking experimentation and repetition, getting something to the point of sonic functionality has been a feat in and of itself. That's not to mention the thousands of hours spent songwriting and producing those songs. 

"Ego" is the culmination of 2 years' time, energy, experimentation, inspiration, self-doubt, love, discovery, growth and appreciation. Over the course of its development I've recorded over 50 songs and written many more. Hard to say if the album I've settled on is necessarily the best of the bunch or even the most personal or meaningful, but more I think it's the most succinct and evocative collection of tracks to possibly represent the time. 

So much can happen in 2 years. I'm writing this today as the most the most tumultuous and anxiety ridden period of my life begins to take a bit more of a coherent shape. I could've worked on this record for ages and ages -- tweaking things, restructuring, scrapping, adding (basically just Kanye-ing around like an idiot), but now feels as good a time as any to finally let go of the material. I have so much more to learn as a musician, and right now barely anyone is listening, so I feel comfortable laying the groundwork for the future in a cohesive, listenable form. 

I hope this album reaches you wherever you are and that you can feel the sound.
