Tell It To Me Straight

This song is about geographic distance revealing how much you love somebody. The "hair in the breeze" is one of those simple natural elements that makes you feel connected with the loved one, even when distanced. The recording started in NZ on a family holiday. I started tracking with my wife's abandoned nylon acoustic from her teenage years. I had planned to replace the take but the character and sentiment of using that guitar worked, so I kept it! The rest was recorded in a home studio in Aus.

When all of a sudden the whole of the second floor goes up in flames 
Little tommy’s on his own today

By some twist of fate his door’s blocked 
But from somewhere I summon the strength of a god

As we’re diving from the hall 
The house begins to fall
