When we asked QuiQui to do another Cinematique Visions podcast he said yes. But as he did not made a mix for a while he got loads of tracks and inspiration to do a longer mix. So as a sort of celebration for his 5th release on Cinematique (‘Changes’) and as we just love it when someone is exciting to provide us with good music, we have agreed upon to unleash this special full version of QuiQui’s Cinematique Visions set. 3.5 hours of great music from now and then. 'Play Fool' opens with Fox's unmistakable vocal delivery, channelling his Jamaican roots over a dub-infused cut. As the track progresses, it erupts into relentless drum loops, pulsating sub-bass, and piercing dub sirens.

I started making this mix series 11 years ago to celebrate my birthday and DJ anniversary.  After a short break, I am pleased to bring the tradition back to life with Twenty-Two, celebrating my 50th birthday and 22 years of DJing. I usually set a lot of rules for programming these studio mixes but I let that all go for this mix and just chose what moved me. I hope it moves you too! I found the album cover quite fitting, which was taken at my 40th at the first ShOOnanigans 10 years ago! 

I am excited to celebrate my 50th at Public Works SF on Sat 7/19! We have one of my favorite producers, Aylen, headlining along with special guests and my long-time friends Dulce Vita (Opulent Temple), Haute Mess (Brass Tax), and Nugz (Dusty Rhino). "Merijn made the first demo some time ago and after DJ-ing it alot we finished the track in one rush this summer, with hours of jamming on old analog synths. We’ve had a lot of fun with the peak knob from the Korg MS-20, you can hear that at the end. It was important for us to keep the human improvised feel of the almost 'animalistic' (hence the title Metazoa wich is synonymous for animal) jam at the end. This is what we do live, more or less. The drums are also rough and unpredictable - you can't have enough acoustic drums on the dance floor if you ask us. We hope you'll hear the fun we had while making it!"
