Darkness had enveloped the room for some time now, and yet still its sole inhabitant gazed warily into the void before him. In the colorless light of the night, its character mimicked that of his own mind, filled with anxieties, obsessions, & guilt. The moonlight shone softly through his window, illuminating a pile of unread books at his bedside. He hadn’t studied nearly as much as he should have today. Outside, he could hear passing cars on the street below. No doubt, their drivers were people more industrious than he, working late to improve their lives. Across the room, the fans on his computer hummed gently. Had he really lost a whole day to that machine again?

With each unfortunate waking moment, both room and world seemed to enclose on him. Life was beginning to pass him by. The clock in the hall ticked onwards. He wasn’t making enough money. From a family portrait on the wall, his mother’s eyes stared into his soul. He simply couldn’t fall asleep. The bed rejected him physically, each of the springs in his worn-down mattress pressing uncomfortably into his spine. Dejectedly, the man sat up and stared into the distant dark. INSOMNIA had reared its ugly head once more.

ZIGI SC makes his EATBRAIN debut with INSOMNIA, a three-track EP that follows his previous appearance on the label’s DIVERGENCE V compilation via a collaboration with A-Cray. On INSOMNIA, the Czech producer delivers three tracks sure to energize the label’s horde and keep them dancing wakefully well into the early hours of the morning.

Reflected across overlapping dimensions born of divergent causal chains, the single thread of an age-old story spun its wondrous tale time and time again, each new weaving of its tapestry of tales garbed in novel forms but resounding with a similar refrain. In a land dominated by the sea, two haggard sailors set sail in search of the knowledge that lay beyond the horizon. In a land of heroes and legends, two knights quested for that which would rid their kingdom of a sorcerer’s malevolent curse. In the lands of a far distant future, a novel pharmaceutical allowed its patients to delve into the knowledge of their ancestors, watching the events of their lives as a silent observer to the collective memory that all held within. In the primal lands that lay under the cold embrace of a black sun, three wolves set out for new hunting grounds across the frigid north.

In each & every dimension, these linked souls each sought the treasure of knowledge lost, held in stasis by its isolation and eagerly awaiting its rediscovery. The mystical draw of such knowledge was constant, its tendrils of influence stretching beyond planar boundaries as it spurred those who heard its call to new feats of heroism. Thus it was in each of these dimensions, and thus it was in a final land, one in which two cowboys rode into the depths of the wilderness and in which saloons would soon sing the ballad of Scrugss & Sonny Jim.
