Born in Marrakech and based in London, Jalal is a DJ and music producer who embodies the essence of tribal and afro sounds. He grew up in an atmosphere of Amazigh and African rhythms that he is authentically overlaying on house music. He released music on all the most respected labels in the world, including Moblack Records, Abracadabra, Madorasindahouse, Wired, and more.

A higher plain of consciousness is chartered during ‘Imbongi’, the new collaborative single between Jalal Ramdani and Mr. Silk. Featuring Africa’s majestic vocalist Lizwi, and with remixes by two afro-house heavyweights, Enoo Napa and FNX OMAR, this compelling single gets a long awaited release on BLOND:IDSH’s ABRACADABRA label. The imbongi, in African tradition, is a composer and orator of poems praising a chief or other figurehead, and on this fresh production, positive musical magic is teased from every pore, as Ramdani and Silk’s hypnotising production lets Lizwi’s vocal soar high above the transcendental groove. Speaking about the collaboration, Jalal divulges “Imbongi came about when myself and Silk were running afro-house events in London during the end of 2019, so the idea of a collaboration surfaced in between these events. The goal was to showcase a track where we blend the modern groove of house music with the traditional touches of our African heritage (I was born in Marrakech, Morocco and Silk has origins from Africa). We made it in my London studio in June 2020 during lockdown. It was done quickly, 3 to 4 days really, as there were no distractions due to lockdown” Remixes come courtesy of Enoo Napa, who has impressed via previous releases and mixes for Madoradindahouse, King Street Sounds and Go Deeva Records, and also a version from FNX OMAR, whose credentials include remixes for Stereo Productions, Spinnin’ Deep and MoBlack Records.
Jalal Ramdani has also released music on Madoras, Wired, Connected and Moblack, and has recently completed a tour of Latin America/Art Basel, including the legendary BPM festival.

Popping out on his Smash The House offshoot label Green Room, Like Mike enlists the help of Jalal Ramdani, Stevo Atambire, Yeronimo and The Wild Child on this synthy deep house anthem ‘Wala’.

‘Wala’ is an all-encompassing celebration of the tribal, deep and progressive sound which has become so popular in recent times, Like Mike continues to impress with his solo work and this release is no exception to the rule. The all-star team of producers expertly blend their individual influences together to produce a piece of music that not only ticks all of the deep/progressive boxes, but also incorporates a unique big room twist within the grandiose synths housed in the drop.

Like Mike, one half of a DJ Mag #1 DJ group with brother Dimitri Vegas, as well as label boss and award-winning music producer, is a name that needs no introduction at this point his career. Aside from his world-renowned work with Dimitri, Like Mike is also recognised globally for his solo work, in which his sound is currently geared towards this progressive sound evident in ‘Wala’. Tracks like ‘Alive’ and ‘Nothing Else Matters’ show the emotive and soulful route Like Mike is currently on, introducing a whole new production skillset to his arsenal.

With such a vast array of talent on display, it’s amazing five musical talents all with differing influences and skillsets can come together so coherently on one track. As main collaborator, Jalal Ramdani brings his signature progressive sound to the table, a sonic profile that has earned him support from huge artists in the scene like Black Coffee, Keinemusik and Dixon. The Moroccan-born but London-based producer has been making waves with releases like ‘Marrakech’ on MoBlack and ‘Together’ on ABRACADABRA. The three featured guests Stevo Atambire, Yeronimo and The Wild Child also make their presence known, as Atambire brings his live-instrumentation flavour to the party and the two upcoming producers in London-based Yeronimo and The Wild Child, both of which make a big impression on ‘Wala’.
