02 Gaelle - Rain

Dutch DJ and producer Olivier Boogie has been doing his thing in Amsterdam, largely without credit, for the best part of a decade. He's previously released both original productions and re-edits, with two contributions to a split Lumberjacks In Hell release back in 2012 standing out. Here he returns - at long last - with an edit EP of his own for Whiskey Disco. There's naturally much to admire, from the soaring strings, undulating bass and disco-funk hustle of "Got To Have Loving" and jaunty Rodriguez re-rub "Can't Get Away" being particularly potent. He also delivers a dash of head-nodding boogie ("You Know Who"), and turns a little-known funk jam into a shuffling house hustler ("Lost In The Crowd").

As the skies clear and things start to warm up, Titeknots - once again - hits the release schedules with a dose of gentle beauty to lift dance floors, pool parties and living room slouch sessions with his 3-track 'More Delicate' collection.

Having spent the past year picking up co-writing and producing credits for Equals (soul / r&b) and Izo Fitzroy (soul / funk), not to mention remixing Ephemerals, DJ Kormac and Soothsayers, it’s time to concentrate once more on solo Titeknots creations.

DJs across the spectrum have shown love to Titeknots – from Monki, Gilles Peterson, Benji B and Phil Taggart on the radio, to club stalwarts like Bonobo, Bondax, Dimitri From Paris and Tom Trago. These productions connect to people whether they are listening on headphones at home or pushing through big club crowds at peak time.

'More Delicate' is the collection’s lead track and sets the tone throughout. Layered, rhythmic melodies dance around a rolling bass and drum combo that builds to a crescendo with elegant intensity.

'Time Mending Time Again' follows, dropping the tempo in a nod to the sampler-based Soul tracks of Titeknots’ youth. A bold horn riff drives the track along, sitting on top of the kind of breakbeat that joins the dots between throwback Hip Hop and House.

'Hopping Greens' ties up the release. A wide open Summer celebration, the multiple hooks and lush layers hark back to classic disco arrangements, pushing beyond the standard 2-chord building blocks of much modern club music.

Our next release on the Kolour mothership is a bit of a special one for us as we debut the first full solo EP of DEBONAIR.

2012 has definitely been a landmark year for Conor Bevan aka DEBONAIR. He's seen a string of success on various V/A releases with his smash hit tunes such as "Why", "Your Love", "Mellow Mellow" and a few other along the way.

We're proud to present to you a more intimate & musical side of Conor with his inaugural solo EP with four tunes of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Tunes for any mood, taste, or occasion(s) all lie within the ranks of the "Rhodes To Nowhere" EP - a labor of love that we're most pleased to finally be able to release.

Sleazy Beats: Boys! Nice one here, more stuff for the sleazy mixsets - Utopia is a slice of shimmering badassery that is no doubt my pick. Also loving the mega-beatdown vibes of Ocean Drive. Will be playing them all though I'm sure.

David (House of Disco): Great to see one of our housemates spreading his wings with such confidence and strength. There's a beautiful coherance to these tracks even though they are all so different. I think 'Rhodes to nowhere' edges it for me, I just love how it takes off ushering the end of the sunset and the beginning of the night. Dapper Disco if ever I've heard it.

Moullinex is the alter ego of Portuguese producer, dj and multi-instrumentalist Luis Clara Gomes. After establishing himself as one of the leading artists in the disco scene, with 3 albums and several singles such as ‘Take My Pain Away’ and ‘Maniac’, and remixes of acts like Røyksopp, Cut Copy and Two Door Cinema Club, he’s been embracing the universal love of music: no matter where you come from, who you are, and whom you choose to love.

Moullinex about his collaboration with Felipe Gordon:

„I have known Felipe since one of my first gigs in Bogota, years ago. I became friends with him and his crew (that later became Nómada Records). They have been doing wonders for the Colombian scene, and belong to this generation Latin American musicians who are unafraid to wear the jazz, funk, soul and house hats all at the same time. So many hats make you sweat, in the most positive way. After playing his music a lot and releasing several of his tracks on our label Forbidden Cuts, it made sense on my last stop in lovely Bogota to take some days off between tour dates and hang out at his studio to make some music. In the end we were able to do one track a day, and the result was the "Contrabando" EP, both Portuguese and Spanish for smuggling. Seems fitting.“
