The challenge for this track was set a poem to music. I searched for public domain poems and ended with Epithalamium by Hattie Howard (1860-1920), because I like the title and rhymes and the pronounciation of the Google Wavenet text-to-speach (TTS) system.

TTS Nerd - Epithalamium

It’s very early in the morning and the fog slowly begins to change from a dense white wall impenetrable to the eye, to a soft first blurred then clearer and clearer vision, until the eye can fix and recognize things. This feeling of coming out of a dream into reality is the theme of the song "Misty Shades of Winter". An enchanted Rhodes, jazzy chords and a softly blown trumpet set the good for this perfect December morning track.

These days, due to new news and influences every day, I experience a very ambivalent, erratic feeling, which is also expressed in my music, which is autobiographical. On the one hand, this ambivalence is the basic theme of humanity, such as the simultaneous existence of love and hate, and on the other hand, the ability to accept contradictory views and images of reality and to turn them around productively and carry on despite the influences. In the hope that we all don't give up and become productive, I wrote these two very jazzy and calm Rhodes-heavy songs.

Herbal Voltage

My cat Shouf died a couple of years ago. A dear friend of mine lost his cat this weekend and this brought back many wonderful memories of our mysterious, friendly and wise cat Shouf.

This track has been made using 11 instances of Voltage Modular in which I only used free modules from VM Nucleus, R_Ware x Airwindows and Haaschen bij haslo. My DAW has been Cubase Pro 12.
Third Party free VST FX: SuperMassive, Panagement by Auburn, Wider by Polyverse, LaLA by Analog Obsession and a wonderful new freebie by Amalgamated Signals named Clean Machine which I can recommend to everyone to beef up their mixes (compression, limiter and saturation)

I am a game programmer who started out as a songwriter.  I got my start in the game industry writing looping music tracks for web games.  Over the years, I gradually shifted over to programming full time, but I still compose music every chance I get.  I use Linux audio production tools exclusively.
