After the dynamo sophomore release that was 2013's "Curiosities", New Zealand's Lord Echo returns to Brooklyn's Bastard Jazz label, this time producing Kiwi trio The Elder Statesman comprised of twin brothers and Wellington fixtures Christopher (piano) and Daniel (double bass) Yeabsley with Lord Echo himself on percussion and drums.

On the "A" side, Montreux Sunrise is mellow meander through a laidback early 70s souljazz vibes, while "Trans Alpine Express" picks things up on the B side with a deep, spiritual piano groove, upfront doublebass, and Echo's percussion perfectly in the pocket.

A timeless gem of a 7" from Bastard Jazz, releasing their own namesake for once!

As musicians, DJ's, producers and before all else, fanatical music lovers, we have many strings to our bow. From performing live to DJ-ing, writing and recording our own material, mixing our own and other peoples' stuff, hunting through the record crates in Charity shops, doing street gigs, and always keeping an ear cocked for a new slant on a rare groove, music pretty much occupies most of our lives.
James Beige is the man we've named as figurehead of the original recordings produced in our own home studio that morph many styles and sounds into one. Latin, soul, bossa-nova, trip hop, samba, afro, breakbeat, cha-cha, exotica and gypsy all find a voice in the technicolor World of James Beige. As the latest album 'Crossanova' suggests... we're crossing over into any- and everything. No sound too far-out or too far-in.
