It's Everything

Forgotten

If I had to choose two or three of my compositions out of all of them, this would be one of them.

Like every composition, this one has a story...or rather two.

The first tells how it was done.

The advantage of making music with an iPad is that you can take your "studio and instruments" anywhere. Thanks to that, I started composing it in France, a country that, as many know, I visit frequently for family reasons.

The main instrument that defines the melody is a bell-type synthesizer and was taken from the defunct Alchemy.

It was 2015 and I was still not able to equalize properly (And I think today, although I have improved, neither).

So in 2019 I decided to improve it, but I discovered that I had accidentally deleted the master.

I didn't know very well what to do and finally decided to recompose it from the beginning, but looking for the most similar sounds on another synthesizer (kv331).

The second story has to do with what I want to convey.

Where I live there is a nursing home. I see the families who come to see the people there.

I remember my grandfather, with whom he spent entire days and showed me all the books he read... I remember it as if it were yesterday (My other grandfather died when I was very young). What I learned most from him was respect and discovering the wonderful stories behind them from which you can learn authentic life lessons.

This composition is for these people who suffer and do not have the love and respect they deserve.

Today I also dedicate it to all these wonderful musicians of a certain age who are in this community and to anyone who suffers for any reason and believes that no one remembers them.

The song is genre Progressive Rock, inspired by bands like Genesis, Yes, Saga and Toto.
But the song also has its own character.
The song is about belief in magic.
Just like the song says “Believe in the magic that we can create”.
It emphasizes the importance of endurance and trust in a higher power, despite the struggles of life.
But ultimately you have to believe in yourself for the magic to become true.

Once in a while I can coax Keith to put his talents toward  a ballad, and this is one of those infrequent endeavours.
Keith is a rocker at heart, while I tend to the contemplative and ambient slice of life and music. We compromise often. This time, Keith sensed his way through the lightness of the music. Though piano is the main source of movement and texture, there is a Native Instruments "Irish harp" VSTi in here too.
A mellow summer? Time to catch up on some summer reading? Here's a bookmark.

Ich Liebs Meer

I began composing soundtrack music about 10 years ago. Most of these compositions were used in short videos that appeared mostly on YouTube. I recently transitioned into the Pop field but my music is still greatly influenced by the atmospheric quality I achieved when I did my soundtrack compositions. I am greatly influenced by the music of the Beatles, Genesis and the film composers, Thomas Newman and Rachel Portman. I don’t try to “set boundaries” when I compose. I am influenced by a number of different genres of music. Among them being, Pop, classical, jazz, folk, indie and so on. I love to experiment during the composition process. Nothing makes me happier than finding chord sequences that give me “goose bumps”.
