do you remember?

sieving shallow breaths 
i existed in the fetal position,
a broken existence;
for what seemed to me then,
as it still does now,
to be forever.

in those long moments, 
i stared without expression into the forever black surrounding me
until after a while
visions sprang to life.

i saw myself walking 
high on dunes and low through valleys;
small in the canyons and smaller through the plains;
quiet in the mountains and bold through caves.

every vision had me marching,
on and over every conceivable terrain
unceasingly chasing down the horizon.

it cleared my head of fear and doubt to spur these visions on
and so i bade my body farewell as i drifted further into them.

i remember taking a deep breath after a long hike,
and it occurred to me that perhaps in chasing 
one might never obtain what he hunts.

and so i reached out toward the horizon,
piercing the veil of illusion.

my palm wrapped around the illuminator and the horizon dimmed as i retrieved it.
in my hands was a strength without wielder,
a light without shadow.

The theme of endless space and enternity
In this i was imagining the long return from an exploratory space mission
Musically endlessly returning to the two central themes of the two parts  represents what i imagine must be the endless cycle of star scapes in endless space, alwys different but always the same
