"Absorb Thy mind in Me become my devotee, resign all things to Me bow down to Me, thou art dear to Me so in truth do I promise thee, thou shalt attain Me."

One of the last verses in the Gita, I find this being the main message that is repeated in different ways throughout, over and over again. Think of Me! Krishna says. If He would be someone else than the creator and the sustainer of the universe, He would come across as a bit needy :). But in us we have the same essence as the creator - the soul. It is a part of Krishna (as a tangible representation of the formless God), we are a part of God! But we have forgotten that we are the soul and believe that we are nothing but humans.  By practicing the presence of the divine within, we will slowly start remembering our true original nature and rise above petty problems and worldly needs and desires. In every action, silently offer it to Krishna (or Christ,Buddha or an aspect of God such as wisdom/bliss/joy - whatever feels natural). This is the practice. Doing the dishes? Mentally say: "I do this for the sake of Joy (or Krishna)" Going to work? Mentally say " I go to work only to please you Krishna".  Got a problem? Mentally say: "Help me to find the right solution Krishna".  Feeling unfairly treated? Bow down by mentally asking for advice "How should I act? What can I learn from this Krishna?". Addressing your higher self in every aspect of life, the consciousness will be gradually raised and problems will be overcome. Addressing a form, Krishna, is easier than addressing something abstract such as "the universe" or one of the perfect qualities of God: Wisdom, Joy, Love. Why? Because we have already good experience in relating to other humans, but no experience in relating to abstract concepts. So by mentally talking to Krishna as a good friend, we will progress faster, utilising our human to human friendship skill. Talking to Krishna like this is the same thing as expressing gratefulness and attunement with the invisible and silent creator of the universes. 

The goal of yoga is achieved when the soul has reunited with Spirit. To reach yoga, we must practice the consciousness of Spirit until we live in that consciousness every second of our lives. The yogic meditation techniques are but tools that help us to quicken this practice into perfection.
