Notes from the author:
After finishing my previous live set, "Live at the Dresser," I almost immediately started working on the next iteration. Like before, there are so many tracks you make that you're attached to but have no place for, no beginnings, no endings. This is the result of that, for the second time. To me, these works are a little faster, a bit more flexible, but with that same sentimentality. A year's worth of me.

"A Long Strange Dream" keeps the vibe going with a mix of tracks that go beyond just dance floor hits.

In a time where quick fame and instant gratification often beat out true artistry, producer and DJ Mihail P is doing things differently. He creates a rich musical journey that spans 30 years of deep techno, his favorite genre, and the one he aims to master in his own work. Mihail P has put out tracks on big-name labels like Ferox Records, NightFlight Records, and Seventh Sign Recordings.

A Supergay warmup by Alison Swing ahead of the open air in Ghent tomorrow! Alison Swing has been busy moving all kinds of dance floors with an authentic approach to DJing that focuses on euphoria-inducing mixes inspired by her upbringing in the LA warehouse scene. She is the co-founder of the Dig Deeper event series in LA where her events and DJ sets helped form the last 10 years of the underground scene in downtown LA. Alison’s honest and tasteful picks in the booth have had no problem translating to dancers worldwide landing her in some of the most exciting and forward-thinking clubs and festivals across the globe in over 30 countries.

Roughly three hundred Sundays ago, I decided to start this little project. Thousands of tracks have been played, and I've been fortunate enough to have a lot of guests contributing through the years. Both unknown faces and established selectors from all over the world. What they all have in common is the uninterrupted passion for archeologically digging through the music of our past.

Hjärngymnastik 300: Dyslipoproteinemisk Kryssningsbokning med Mihail P

Hailing from Vinica, a small town in East Macedonia, Mihail P (@mihailpetrovski) is part of a new generation of artists re-forging a vision of classical techno in their own mould. A student of Architecture and Design in his mid twenties, he grew up with sounds of Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Jean Michael Jarre, Pink Floyd emanating from the home stereo – which has no doubt played a part in shaping the resonance of his musical taste.

After discovering the sounds of UK and Detroit Techno courtesy of Timeline Radio and the Estimuloshow, over the last couple of years he’s struck solid links and friendships with Paul Rimbaud from Distant Worlds, Domenic Cappello and Verdant boss Andy Green who have all played a part in giving him a platform to develop his sound. In turn, exposing him to ever increasing circles and genres of music that he likes to immerse himself in. Between his studies and making music, Mihail likes to draw, especially using black and white ink – having found his way with the technique from quite a young age – it’s a hobby he also likes to indulge as much as he can.

Alongside the drawing, he does a lot of graphic design as a freelancer. As he puts it: “I’m a sucker for a good conceptual design, and am really into beautifully crafter records with sleeve art”.

The next mix in my series comes from my first international guest, Mihail P. An awesome DJ and selector with releases on labels such as Distant Worlds, Ferox, Seventh Sign, Verdant Recordings, Magnonic Signals, WWM, Nebulae Records, Prisoner Of Sound Records and Propersound Records. The internet brought us together and I have been playing some of his tracks so I'm very excited to present this mix.

Coming from a small town in East Macedonia called Vinica. Mihail grew up listening to his father's records like Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, La Bionda, Pink Floyd. He started DJing at about 15–16 years old, and  started producing very soon after that. He was always drawn by the more deeper side of house and techno and believes that it is also evident in his own productions too. UK techno and Detroit were his main inspirations. For this mix, Mihail P wanted to capture a special vibe. Stuff that inspired him back then and also newer music that has that particular vibe that he's always after. Cozy up! Mihail Petrovski, better known musically as Mihail P, hails from Vinica, a small town in Eastern Macedonia. As part of a new generation of artists redefining classical techno, he is carving his own path through the genre. Mihail's musical taste was shaped early on by the sounds of pioneers like Vangelis, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Pink Floyd, whose melodies filled his childhood home.

His journey into electronic music deepened after discovering UK and Detroit Techno through Timeline Radio and the Estimuloshow. Over the past few years, he has built strong connections and friendships with figures such as Paul Rimbaud of Distant Worlds, Domenic Cappello of Seventh Sign Recordings, and Andy Green of Verdant. For almost 20 years, James Steer has consistently and unassumingly contributed to the after-hours soundtrack of Melbourne. Well respected within the underground Melbourne DJ community, James has built a reputation as a selector who deftly balances exquisite taste with technical execution. James cut his teeth as one of the founders of the legendary Deep Chord Melbourne parties in the early noughties, showcasing the emerging deep minimal sounds of the time to an eager and receptive audience. The party started off as an intimate affair in the confines of the upstairs space of Pony Bar (later Boney), before finding a true home in the legendary basement space of the Mercat Cross. Since then, James has regularly graced the decks at some of Melbourne’s most iconic nightspots, equally adept at delivering funk and disco laden suppertime soundtracks as heaving excursions into deep dance floor dynamics. Drawing from a vast, genre-defying collection, James’ sets offer the listener/dancer a guided tour through the fundamentals of depth, always evolving and never stagnant, a glimpse into the now, with a respectful nod to what’s come before.
