Loose Ends, the London trio formed of guitarist and vocalist Carl McIntosh, vocalist Jane Eugene and keyboardist Steve Nichol, moulded their sound in the era of playful genre melding that directly followed disco's populist decline. Their uniquely eighties fusion of R&B, post-disco rhythm, & sensuous vocal performances were instrumental in defining what is now considered UK street soul. Instrumental too, was the glossy production aesthetic of Nick Martinelli, who worked closely with the group on five albums. 

This In Focus is a trip through the silken post-disco & pop of Loose Ends.

Polyglamorous is thrilled to share this Whodat ( @1whodatis ) set recorded live during her appearance at our Public Works party earlier this year. 

Whodat is lusciously spreading a timeless spirit of house music and she is serene while going down new roads in dance music. She knows deep house as form of transcendence when spinning in the Downtown synagogue Detroit at regular intervals. Her dj appearances are in Detroit's Marble Bar, The Temple Bar or Motor City Wine rotating with Japan, Canada and Germany. Her guaranty is to offer a safe space for the people who come to see her to just be. In Germany Whodat has created familiar atmosphere when bringing close ones from Detroit with her, as the 18 year old Kyle Hall to Cologne for his Europe premiere. Her work was released on the labels Uzuri Recordings, Viola Klein and Meakusma.

     Fixtures in Toronto's underground house scene for the last three decades, Toronto Hustle (Mark Kufner & Jeff Graham) have been tirelessly working in the studio and now are releasing on some of the most respected labels in house music including Rough Recordings, Distant music, DNH and Strobe Records. Their combined knowledge and passion for straight up house music has seen them play at many of Toronto's hottest venues and warehouse events.  They have shared the stage with the crème de la crème of the dance music industry, including: Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Dennis Ferrer, Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Detroit Swindle, Satoshi Tomiie, Ron Trent, The Martinez Brothers, and Derrick Carter to name a few. For almost 20 years, James Steer has consistently and unassumingly contributed to the after-hours soundtrack of Melbourne. Well respected within the underground Melbourne DJ community, James has built a reputation as a selector who deftly balances exquisite taste with technical execution. James cut his teeth as one of the founders of the legendary Deep Chord Melbourne parties in the early noughties, showcasing the emerging deep minimal sounds of the time to an eager and receptive audience. The party started off as an intimate affair in the confines of the upstairs space of Pony Bar (later Boney), before finding a true home in the legendary basement space of the Mercat Cross. Since then, James has regularly graced the decks at some of Melbourne’s most iconic nightspots, equally adept at delivering funk and disco laden suppertime soundtracks as heaving excursions into deep dance floor dynamics. Drawing from a vast, genre-defying collection, James’ sets offer the listener/dancer a guided tour through the fundamentals of depth, always evolving and never stagnant, a glimpse into the now, with a respectful nod to what’s come before.
