Singer/songwriter/producer James Cook first made a name for himself as the front man of London's cult electro rock pioneers NEMO, with three independent album releases between 2004-2008. Cook toured with IAMX and Imogen Heap as a musician, but also wrote songs for, and appeared in, many episodes of cult British tv comedy show 'The Mighty Boosh'. 
After leaving London for Berlin in 2008, Cook wrote and recorded Chamber Pop curio album 'The Dollhouse' with violinist Anne Marie Kirby. In 2010 he decided to go solo, releasing the acclaimed debut album 'Arts & Sciences' in 2011/12.  This was followed by the first of his covers series 'Reverse Engineering, Vol. One' in 2013. Returning to London, via success in Europe and expansion into the US and South America, BEES IN NOVEMBER previews James Cook's second solo album, appropriately entitled 'ADVENTURES IN AUSLAND'. Released on 1st June on DeepSeeMusic.

'This song was a single from British new wave pop band 'The Teardrop Explodes' first album 'Kilimanjaro' in 1981. The legendary post punk popsters were fronted by eccentric left Field english singer/songwriter Julian Cope's between 1979 and 1982. Cope later went on to further acclaim and success as a solo artist during the late 80s/early 90s. A very much underrated band in my opinion, but hugely influential and uniquely English. This slightly skewed psychedelic post punk pop classic is given my baroque n roll treatment.' - James Cook

REVERSE ENGINEERING (VOL. ONE)

Reverse Engineering (Vol. One)' is a selection of some of James Cook's favourite and most influential electronic/new wave artists from the late 70s early 80s. 
The phrase 'Reverse Engineering' is a scientific term about taking advanced technology that is beyond one's own understanding, taking it apart, discovering how it works, then creating your own new version from the knowledge.
That is exactly what James Cook is attempting with each song of this covers series: Creating an 'alien twin' of the original version by dissecting and redesigning the original.

'Reverse Engineering (vol. one)' will also be accompanied by three music videos. The first of which was 'Treason' released on April 9th. The next video, 'Ashes to Ashes', is set to be released in mid June.

All songs of this covers series will be available as free downloads and released prior to James Cook's second studio album which is planned for release at the end of 2013.

Singer/Songwriter/Producer James Cook made 3 albums between 2004/2008 with pioneering London electro guitar band NEMO. He then moved to Berlin and made The Dollhouse' (2010), a chamber pop album with violinist/arranger Anne-Marie Kirby. (Nb. 2025 Dollhouse II is released)
In 2012, he released his debut solo album 'Arts and Sciences'. An instant pop classic featuring strings, synths and guitars and James unique voice and songwriting. In 2013/2021, he released the covers albums 'Reverse Engineering, Vol One/Two'. His second solo album 'Adventures in Ausland' was released in November 2014, with a more ambitious 8 piece ensemble. 2016's ANTI LOVE SONGS saw James return to a more aggressive/guitar/synth sound. 2020 was the year for THE NEW NORMAL, his 9th studio album. A dreamier more electronic affair. After releasing 2 vinyl compilations in 2023 (JAMES NEMO/JAMES COOK vol one), James releases a darker, more experimental indie guitar album (his 5th solo full length), INSIDE OUT in September 2024.
